Must admit I am getting so fed up with some posters on here always criticising the manager. You know who you are. What do you expect? You think we should win every game 5-0 and win the league and all cups every year. Shocking you are.
It is a competition and for years we have been way off the top. Rome wasn't built in a day and I'm not saying Silva is the messiah but we have shown progress from fat Sam style of boring football.

Agree8 Disagree0

Well said Geoff.

27 Aug 2019 06:48:18
I also said that we should support the whole club as we do not choose the manager or buy the players. I'm all for differing opinion but give the team a break. Last season started well and ended well but was awful in the middle. We will come good again. Only played 3 games and in prem league no game is easy. So if you are not happy with our club or you just want to keep moaning over every little thing then jog on and support someone else.

27 Aug 2019 07:27:01
Geoff i totally agree but some fans have the right to a say and games like the last one is so hard to take knowing we are the better team we haven't had a striker since lukaku left in 2017. Tosun terrible niasse terrible dcl terrible you. Can see y fans moan a proven striker should of been the number 1 target in the last 4 markets an still we are stuck with dcl who can finish an has not proven himself and a kid from italy who we all hope can do
It but only time will tell i like the manger i think he is the ryt man for the job just final third we are shocking.

27 Aug 2019 07:43:42
How do we know Tosun is terrible! Watched the bloke in Champions League and for his Country, most of his goals from in the area and scored against very good sides. My view if he (Tosun) is given the same game time as DCL, we would see the goals come.

27 Aug 2019 08:01:08
Get the feeling tosun doesn't fit with Silva style. Maybe a poacher and good in the air but he likes pace up top. Dcl is great at holding ball up and fighting for possession, just cannot finish the job. Everyone got everything crossed for kean to be saviour. Worry for us if he not. We need goals across the team. Richy and siggy seem off the boil and Gomes struggled against villa. International break soon so hopefully we can gel with those that don't go away.
I just think we need to get behind the team rather than turning goodison into the toxic place it has been over recent seasons.

You are right Evocallum - people do have a right to voice their opinions but to me it's frustrating that we have 'fans' who only come on to criticise the team.

When we murdered Arsenal 1-0 (and I say murdered because we totally outplayed them, when we beat Chelsea 2-0 and Man U 4-0, our form in the last 8 games of the season they disappear and don't say a word of praise. I think they have a panic attack and don't know what they are going to do with themselves the next week.

Then, as soon as there is any dip in form, there they are - the I told you so brigade.

The really, really frustrating thing is these people think they are great Everton fans, steeped in the history of our great club but their only solution they ever offer is Silva is not good enough.

There is still a lot to do at the club but it needs patience and understanding but I don't see any from these 'supporters'

This is a discussion forum/ site but how can you debate/ discuss anything when all they say is "I am right, I am right and I know I am right"

Rant over.

{Ed025's Note - good stuff that bw..

27 Aug 2019 09:21:02
BW i agree there is a lot to do an silva an brands are the way forward for this club patience is key but do you think he should give tosun more game time. As a striker my self amateur an semi pro leagues if ya don't score goals your replaced i don't rate tosun but i think he deserves a run of games if kean is not ready silva has to change it up top as he said after the game the lack of goals is concerning.

27 Aug 2019 09:34:51
Come on here and other Everton forums to criticise tactics, team and coaching staff when I/ wish, because I refuse to boo, shout abuse or moan at the game/ in the ground. Dirty washing and all that. I also refuse to personalise by calling others that comment, bloody idiots or fools etc! Hope that helps.

{Ed025's Note - thats fair comment DFS..

27 Aug 2019 09:36:26
BW take a bow son. 👌👍.

27 Aug 2019 10:05:11
If you put yourself in that category of idiots and fools DFS then fine, i do too. I'm not insulting you it's my opinion of your opinions if you believe that wanting our team and manager to fail is your opportunity to come onto forums and give biased and hyper unrealistic views.

However, I love other opinions when it's taken on an outlook of reality and the views are balanced and given in clear context.

Most of yours and others on here are simply given to berate with a thinly veiled mask of what you are truly saying. You don't want Marco and when we lose it's all his fault.

I don't put a mask on it and will say it how it is. If I think you're an idiot based on what you're saying I'll tell you.

You probably think I'm an obnoxious ick (put whatever letter confront that you think fits) . That's you're opinion and believe it or not I do respect it.

But we know you, Swan and DC don't like Silva. We know you think every loss is his fault. For 14 months you've told us all. But if you want your opinion to be more received then make it more constructive than destructive.

Why have you never said anything good about the manager? Why can't you highlight the occasional time he's done something right?

I don't need to answer them questions for you. You do. Me I can criticise and praise and people won't know if I like him or not. You and some others already and from the start nailed your colours to the mast before a ball was kicked.

Evocallum

I think my response to you has got caught in a backlog or missed

Basically I think Silva is trying to emulate the attacking front three of say a Man City or a Liverpool for example where all 3 can play across the line and interchange constantly to try and pull defenders out of position

Tosun doesn't really fit this model as he is a more traditional centre forward who wants to stay in the box all the time but by doing that the attack can lose flexibility and it also constrains the 2 'wide' men as it is more difficult for them to interchange all the time.

Last season DCL wasn't scoring but the team was playing well and others were scoring in his absence so Tosun wasn't needed. This season I think we have brought in Kean to provide an additional scoring input plus he has the option of moving Richarlison to the middle. I think he has been trying to motivate DCL at the start of the season rather than destroy his confidence but the lack of goals from the rest of the team might soon force his hand

Tosun is a good player but not really suited for the style of play Silva wants. I could see him doing well at a Brighton (replacing Glen Armstrong) or a Fulham but only see him as an impact player with us.

27 Aug 2019 17:28:05
Personally I think Tosun is like Lineker but without the goals.

I also think you get out of this forum what you put in.
If you only put in hatred and destructive comments then you can't argue if you only get the same back.

Keane was at fault for the 1st goal against Villa but all the doom and gloom comments are against Silva.

Well, we win as a team and lose as a team and both Keane and Silva are part of that team and if anyone attacks any of my team then I will defend them.

27 Aug 2019 18:27:12
Tosun fitted Sam's type of team for me. I think with more intricate play we need an aguero type player. I really like him and he gives his all on the pitch. He wants to succeed but sometimes you don't fit the plan.

Kean looks like he's got skill, quick feet and a willingness to make opportunities for himself. However, he's very young and needs a lot of time to develop.

27 Aug 2019 19:13:01
That a just it though BlueJohn, I don't think Tosun couldve copes with big Sam's game. The ball over the top or constantly pumped up to him, he's not the best at hold up play or quick enough for a ball over the top.
DCL has the hold up play and pace for a Sam team but would need to score too.

27 Aug 2019 19:44:11
DFS, I don't call people names, if I can help it, on here but I won't shy away from saying if someone posts something ridiculous, don't see a problem with that.
I'm not having a go at you here, I'm seriously just curious. You say you refuse to boo etc at the game yet you will come on here and slate players/ manager etc. Is that not a bit two faced? What's the difference in not doing it in person but doing it behind the anonymity of a keyboard? As I said, I'm not having a pop at you here I'd just like to know the reasoning behind that.

27 Aug 2019 20:50:22
I agree Smit. I think they brought him over to fit with Sam but getting someone from that type of league very rarely works. He's quite slow for EPL standards and doesn't push the channels.

DFS
I think you have inadvertently answered your question when you said most of his goals from in the area.

Silva is trying to do the same as Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham etc in having a flexible, interchangeable forward line where the forwards move from winger to centre forward to winger to drag the defence out of position.

This approach is harder to implement when the centre forward wants to stay in the area all the time and it also has an affect on the ability of the wingers to swap.

Tosun, whilst a good finisher, struggles as one of an interchangeable front 3. I think that is the reason he is not getting as much game time as DCL as including Tosun reduces the overall effectiveness of the side (you might argue that point but that is how I would see it also) . I think Silva sees Kean as the answer to DCL's goal draft with Richarlison in the middle as an alternative.
