Adding my thoughts to the Digne conversation . I said at the end of last season I feared a European giant would be sniffing round after him . He is by far the best fullback in the Prem . I just hope we can keep hold of him.

Agree2 Disagree0

I hope European Giants do come sniffing around our players mate, just shows how Marco is finally getting his best team together, The Future Is Blue.

When we do sell to Europe Elite we come off 2nd best as Addrissa to PSG and the Lukaku fee being half what Liverpool got for Coutinho, I can't agree GB.

I thought £75 million for Lukaku was good mate.

Cant imagine any player been sold on the cheap anymore, and lukako would have been worth another 40mill if he had a 1st touch. now interesting thing is even utd sold him for less than they bought him, he is an enigma over hyped, but can and will score goals but in my view not a great.

It’s a balance between selling at the best possible price whilst recruiting the best possible replacement.

It’s no good getting £75 million for Lukaku only to struggle for two seasons trying to find a goal scorer.

I get GBs point that we are clearly on the right track when the huge teams want our players and are willing to pay top whack for them. But we have our own ambitions which need to be realised by keeping the likes of Digne at the club to achieve them.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is ace that you cant keep a player who wants to go, both romelu and gana wanted to leave so the only thing you can do is try and get the best deal for the club that you can, its no use having a player at the club if his heart is not in it mate..

Bob on Ed. We could though have done much better trying to get a replacement for Rom’. But that was Walsh’s issue. Brands has a completely different approach which is perfect for our club thus far. I genuinely can’t criticise any of his purchases, even the new ones are already looking like improvements on what we had before them.

{Ed025's Note - we have to realize that it will take time though ace, brands is not superman...but i still think he should wear his undies outside his kecks mate.. :)

I just think £75 million was pretty good Lukaku was moody at the end and sometimes couldn't be asked it seemed, also he has not lasted long at his dream move to Man U, no good having a player that wants to move, only my opinion lads.

I also think Digne is a Great player and would hate to loose him, he seems up for the Everton Revival under Marco.

Sorry GB, maybe my point is coming across wrong. The money we got for Lukaku was brilliant business. Especially as we had extra because united are screwed and can’t find a way of getting 20+ goals from him when little old us had no issues with that.

Digne is also amazing business and arguably the best LB in the league.

But to be a top six side we need to either keep them or replace them well. Lukaku was a sale without the adequate replacement. Whereas Digne is already an upgrade on Baines. It’s all very positive mate.

Good post mate.

Good posts from you both, GB and TA. If we didn't have Walsh here at the time we sold RL then it might have not been as bad. That man cost us a year or two in our advancement, not to mention around 200m. Imagine what Brands could have done with that money, plus what he's spent thus far, over a few transfer windows.

I think bluepotato has is spot on. We shouldn't confuse the short but disastrous and costly Walsh era with what is happening now with Brands.

He is not perfect - we are short on central defenders and weak up front on the right when compared to the left but he has brought in some really good players and has gone a long way to get rid of a lot of the Walsh mistakes.

GB is right, it is a sign that we are getting things right when other clubs want our players. I hope there are a lot more at the end of this season but that they can see our potential and are happy to stay because Once Everton always Everton.

You can't knock Lukakus stats for United, the lad scored 27 goals in his 1st season for United and 15 in a turbulent 2nd season.
It sometimes seems that the media are portraying him as a player who's career has gone off a cliff.

31 Aug 2019 11:46:29
Tbh I don't care if a European Giant comes sniffing or not, I'd rather they didn't. I don't care if other clubs rate him or not, we've got a brilliant left back and that's all that matters and all that should matter.

As for Lukaku, we definitely got our pants pulled down for what we could've got but it's done now, I don't miss him and he will continue to annoy fans of clubs he plays for, for years to come.

31 Aug 2019 14:29:59
Smit, the problem with Rom is two-fold, his first touch has always been poor and he never really cuts it against the top teams.
He will destroy the lower league teams and score bags of goals against them but he's never really done it via the teams at the top of the league. That said, taking out the tougher fixtures, he will always give you a decent return in a season. I don't think we got our pants pulled down, Swan, we got a decent fee for him with add ons. The fact that Utd couldn't get the same fee that we did shows that no club wanted to pay over the odds.

31 Aug 2019 15:58:40
Yes Blue and we still need a striker who can bang them in against the lower teams.
Imagine him with Ricky and Bernard/ Iwobi beside him.
