Barca boss is also under pressure and the BBC says

' If the worst happens, there are plenty of potential replacements - the long list of currently available bosses includes Pablo Machin, Quique Setien, Abelardo, Massimiliano Allegri, Laurent Blanc and (surely not? ) Jose Mourinho. (Marcelino, recently fired by Valencia, is not an option because coaches in Spain are not allowed to manage more than one team in a season'

Wonder if any of those may fancy coming to us if Silva goes. Don't know anything about the first 3.

{Ed025's Note - dont rule out benitez who is apparently the owners choice...who also landed at liverpool airport today geoff..

Agree1 Disagree0

Benitez is on £12 million a year in China, wages may be an issue .

23 Sep 2019 20:28:33
Well ed. You learn something new everyday. I know his family still live on Wirral. When does Chinese season finish? Not that it will matter because we just pay his contract out.
He might work for us ed. His red connections are well in the past and he can get his teams to defend as long as he doesn't bring Geordie mentality where he had to park the bus every game.

{Ed025's Note - i have to be honest geoff hes not my first choice, but all my choices have turned out to be lemons so take no notice of me mate..

23 Sep 2019 20:38:03
Tbh ed. Only Jose and him have been mentioned seriously and I hate Jose.

Swan goes on about Gallardo but I know nothing about him and South American football isn't the top European leagues so we never know if he'll be good enough.

There will be loads of managers out there but it's about getting good advice if and when Silva goes. Ed2 says the advisors to moshiri atm are not the best so we just have to wait and see.

In the meantime we got a game tomorrow that we need to win, not only to get fans back on side but to progress in a cup we have never won. God could we do with winning something.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely geoff..

23 Sep 2019 20:50:59
geoff, get real son stop wetting your pants Benitez no chance. and no top class manager/ coach is coming to us, because we're second rate and have been for nearly 30 years, sick of hearing about our "beloved club and our great club" we're in the also rans and will be for a very long time some of these posts are quite sad and delusional, thinking we will challenge top four, we'll probably stay up.

23 Sep 2019 21:27:03
Tbh blue I'm not wetting my pants. Not a great fan of Benitez over last few years. I only mentioned him as he has been mentioned here before and others do like him but who else is out there?
You seem great at slagging people off but not coming up with anything constructive.
We are all aware of ourbfailings ad a club and the struggles we have had over the years, we all lived it but we also have belief. Leicester won the league so anything is possible if the stars align.

If you going to continue to be a negative Nancy maybe go find some other club to support.

Benitez is a winner and a very underrated manager.

24 Sep 2019 00:25:36
Don’t like him at all. He would be my last choice. He was crap at Newcastle and the fans only liked him because they hated Mike Ashley so much they couldn’t see that he was doing a crap job. They’ll be no worse off with Bruce. If he was as good as everyone says he is, what’s he doing in China? From unemployed to Newcastle to China. That’s a CV to be proud of. No thanks.

Blue Lagoon

You seem to have a right downer on the club you say you support but I have to pull you up on you saying Benitez - no chance

I don't want him but this is the Benitez who went to Newcastle who have great fans but have never been a bigger club than us and have an awful owner in Ashly. This is the same Benitez that is languishing in 7th place in the Chinese 'Super' League 25 points behind the leaders

I repeat, I don't want him, but he'd be very grateful if we approached him as he must already be regretting moving to Newcastle and then China.

We won't attract the really top managers but we're talking Benitez for goodness sake. Get real

Just to be clear I don't rate him now. I might have years ago but he's well past his sell by date.

24 Sep 2019 21:42:45
Anyone who thinks Benitez is a crap manager knows nothing about football, he is top drawer.

25 Sep 2019 12:52:15
Trueblue

He was a good manager once, same as Wenger, same as Hodgson

They aren't anymore.
