It would be interesting to see how many people actually want us to lose tonight to rid ourselves of Silva. this would imply that his departure is of more importance than silverware!

I have to admit. I'm for it as the long term future has much more importance than progression to the next round which will inevitably end in defeat if he stays!
These are messed up times!

Better managers than Marco have won silverware and have still been shown the door Tricky mate.
Whatever happens in this (minor) cup comp. will end up just a footnote in his tenure, because the PL results will overshadow it like a full solar eclipse!

Disgraceful!
No matter whether the manager is someone you like or not, to advocate supporting your own team to lose, to throw away an opportunity at a possible trophy victory, its abhorrent in my eyes!
A real fan will ALWAYS want their team to win, no matter what.

To want to throw a comp out because of the manager is just unexplainable to me. Winning silverware is about being the best. And it’s the one main way we can live up to our own mantra.

I never want us to lose. Remembering how Kendal was so close to losing his job and going from unpopular with the fans to literally the best manager we have ever had is lesson enough for me to understand that winning cup games or any games come to that should never be traded for future uncertainty.

I want a win tonight and if it gives Silva a stay of execution so be it. For me an Everton win will always be first in my thoughts.

We have been craving the level of investment we now have for years and in typical Everton style we have messed it up. supporters such as yourself cannot see the wood for the trees. take off you tinted specs and look at the bigger picture.

If we win tonight we are caught in "no mans land" as the board will be reluctant to remove him as we will be in a cup quarter final and this will only bring prolonged misery and damage to the club as he is inept and way out of his depth (as is the advisor that sanctioned the appointment) . your prehistoric approach to supporting EFC in the modern era could be considered "abhorrent" in many eyes and certainly mine.

Not a personal attack but this is a forum for opinion and ours differ greatly. let's see what happens and maybe we can offer our opinions once again around 6.30pm on Sunday!

Even a win is only a stay of execution if you take into account the run of fixtures we are about to face. It may come down to opinions, Trev, but I never want to see my team get beat. Never. For me, that's the total opposite of what a supporter is. If you believe he is as bad as you say then he will get his marching orders soon enough but not at the expense of us losing.

Everyone’s entitled to air their opinion on this forum. But to want to lose? Sorry that’s not a matter of opinion. It’s wanting your team to lose, wanting another team to win at our cost, wanting to not win silverware, wanting Everton to miss out on success. Why? Because you think that losing supplies to an improved future.

There is genuinely no advantage to losing. The bigger picture you refer to offers no guarantees but beating Watford tonight guarantees us the next round.

In your impatience to have the current manager replaced, you seem to have lost your purpose as a supporter.

29 Oct 2019 19:19:14
That is such a ridiculous statement. A cup quarter final equals prolongued misery. I really can't wait to see you crying your eyes out as we lift a trophy at Wembley.
Of course the league is thus far disappointing and no doubt a managerial change is needed at some point, but when the time is right. Saying you want us to lose just to achieve this is disrespectful and makes me question how worthy you are of supporting this amazing club.

29 Oct 2019 19:25:09
Forgot to outline the most ridiculous of all statements. Wanting my team to always win is now deemed a 'prehistoric approach to supporting EFC in the modern era'.
Is the millennial snowflake supporting generation of the view that we should hope we lose games? No cup wins for Everton because we don't like the manager and would rather take failure?
I think I'll stick to the dinosaur view of wanting to win a trophy and go out trying to win every match regardless!

Absolutely crazy post Trev and your reply is up there with one of the most up your own ass replies I've seen on here. Silva according to people close to the club is no where near the exit so a loss tonight wouldn't guarantee his departure.

The fact you want the team to lose shows the kind of fan you are and most on here will disregard your views based on that comment I'm sure.

I'm happy the lads won, very happy Holgate got a goal. Not particularly happy with the performance. First half was very very low quality football. Some parts were ok in the second half.

I'm not filled with confidence for next game or months but hopefully we can turn it around. No idea how the club go about that though.
