Lots of interesting points being made on here. My own point would be that we have made loads of signings in recent years that have just not cut it. Established players from other clubs and some youngsters. Yet many have failed. Many were bought in for £20 million plus on good wages and have been sent on loan or released. We have wasted money. Our squad now has some youth and yes there is a gamble in some. But go back 20 years and we were much more successful at identifying youngsters that we bought cheap and sold on expensive to fund other purchases. Right now we seem to have suffered 5 years plus of poor spending. I don't think Silva is to blame for that. Martinez was manager when that rot started. We had one transfer window where we bought 5 number 10's and this one just gone we desperately needed a center half or 2. We didn't get one. Same was said about a center forward and Kean was brought in for that. Tosun before him. Our efficiency in signings has to be pretty low now. That is not down to Silva. It is down to the whole club. Many more people are involved. I don't want to mention Moyes' time but at least then we constantly unearthed youngsters who made it or cost less than the figures we pay now just to end up releasing players at a later date. let's hope the club sorts it soon.

Totally agree degsy
It baffles me for 4 transfer windows we still have not got a striker who can put the ball in the net god knows what's happening behind close doors but it stinks we have been going backwards no striker no commanding midfielder
No aggressive defender and NO LEADER. These all should be looked at as we speak now so we are not panic buying the last day like every window the club is run like a circus an we are a laughing stock.

To be fair they did try to get dacoure and zouma so they obviously know what is needed but yes it is a little haphazard the way they do or don't so things.

Not sure how you can say our transfer policy has been huge negative. I think we done pretty well with our signings over past few years. You have to remember most of them are pretty young so will take time to settle and develop.
Richy 21 and pacy. Needs to stay on his feet.
Digne 20 odd. Best player since he signed for us.
Bernard magic little winger. Needs to finish better.
Gomes always looks like he got weeks on the ball. Maybe a little lazy.
Iwobi going to be belter for us.

Not all signings are good or positive butnlike any club there is good or bad signings. We just still need to support the club regardless of players or staff.

Yes geoffjohno I agree with you about the 4 you list. What about the other 20 odd that we have either been lumbered with or sent out on loan? 20 years ago we signed many players for a few mill and then sold them on for 10 times what we paid. Can you name players in the last 20 years that we have done that with? That was my point.

Are you being serious? In the past 20 years you can't think of any players we have sold for profit?

Over the past 4 years we have absolutely wasted money, can't even shift them because of wages and will have to wait for contracts to expire. But that's was the Steve Walsh era. I think most of the players we have bought under brands have been good players and if they were sold we could get at least what we paid.
