What's the view on Bernado Silva being banned for the tweet he put up?
Personally, if the person on the receiving end of the 'joke' is fine with what's been sent then is there really a problem? As long as it is not of an insulting manner, that is.

Racism is abhorrent but there has to be common sense involved from the powers that be. I'm not so sure that a match ban is warranted, let alone a 50k fine. If he was known for such behaviour then hitting him in the pocket isn't a problem but it's an expensive joke between friends in the end.

I know they are different governing bodies but how can 50k be justified for one tweet when the Bulgarian FA are hit for near enough the same amount when their fans actually chant racist abuse? Look at how Balotelli was treated in Italy recently, is that not worse than what Silva did? There's a major problem in Russia yet the clubs seem to get away pretty lightly. I'm all for punishing such acts but there has to be a common ground throughout the different leagues. FIFA needs to step up and set the standard for the entire football community. No pun intended but the rules and punishments need to be more balck and white, players, clubs and associations need to be clear on what crosses the line.

Compare it to the many internet trolls who ruin peoples lives and internet sexual predators and they get next to no punishment.
Next to that it pales in comparison.

Nonsense imo. From what I can see it was a joke between friends purely saying as a child he looked like a cartoon character from an advert. Colour had nothing to do with it.

Another example of the snowflake PC world we now live in.

They react like that to a jovial tweet or whatever it was between team mates who have no issue with it, and give the likes of Bulgaria minuscule punishment for all that racial chanting just doesn’t make sense 🤷🏻‍♂️
Would there be such an uproar if someone was who was chubby as a child and compared to the Pilsbury Doughboy?

Smit and Sir_Loin are spot on totally agree, plus It's counter productive to create or indeed invent issues on an already very delicate subject. People understandably imo tend to discard with a 'rubber stamp' genuine causes for complaint.
ala ' boy crying wolf' and so on.

''Would there be such an uproar if someone was who was chubby as a child and compared to the Pilsbury Doughboy? ''

Good question ST, and a good example of why 'empathy' sometimes doesn't get identified and put into the equation mate.

Agree with you all boys, this particular incident is just ridiculous. I think it would have been more racist if it was a white cartoon character but, even then, if it looked like him and he took it in jest then is there really a problem? I think it's a case of other people being offended and we all know we can't have that! Crazy.

PC is at the root of most Social problems in this Country bluepotato. Us the great unwashed know it and hope everyday for commonsense to prevail. The only ones that appear ignorant are our Politicians and their broken adversarial point scoring.

Spot on, bct.
