Anyone been following Kenny at Schalke since the season restarted?
7 goals conceded in 2 games doesn't make good reading.
I know there's more than him in the defence and the team as a whole, but anyone got any idea how he's been performing?
Was hoping he may be ready to slide right into the team for us next season.

I think Shalke play with a back three from what I've seen. Kenny has been pushed further up the field so it might be a tad unfair to point the finger (I know your not slating Kenny by the way) . I think it's more to do with Wagner's formation set up. Maybe a back four would suit both Shalke and Kenny. Would still like him back at EFC though.

As much as it pains me to say, I think the club will bring JJK back purely for fiscal reasons, I have watched him numerous times in his campaign with Schalke, and of course witnessed him start for us a few times in the 2017/ 18 season, he was novice then I accept, but I don't think he what it takes to be starting a right back in a top six team, I know we are currently not a top six side, far from it, but honestly I don't see JJK being a long term right back for Everton, I would happily be proved wrong, but honestly don't see him reaching another level, if he wasnt an evertonian I don't think many fans would even be that concerned with what happened with him. better defensively that Sidibe though!

I'm sure that some teams have prepared better after the time off than others and some results will be distorted by this break. Can't see how 2 months off and only a no contact 1 to 2 weeks training is any good for players.
But until the break, he was doing very well. It's only 2 games, likely not the best scenario to make any judgment. I'm sure no fans plays a huge part in motivation to certain types of players. Some need that extra adrenaline rush of support and or abuse from opposition fans.

It watched it myself since the restart but from speaking to my German colleague the other day he said Schalke came up against a very determined Dortmund side chasing down Bayern and don’t really have much to play for
From what he said you are right ToffeeApple some teams appear better prepared and others look like they are in early Pre-season making mistakes
Kenny was doing well prior to the break, don’t think he is the answer at right back longterm where he is but he has improved. Better option for me than Sidibe who supposedly wants out and doesn’t offer anything special plus would cost us, money better spent elsewhere.

Definitely better than Sidibe ST!
Kenny needs a big leap to make an elite level player and he's young, it's possible but we must hope all our players improve. So we can cash em in and start performing off the pitch and bring in some much needed profit year on year. But if the hype he managed pre C.V., he'd surely be the better option over Sidibe and dare I say a faltering Coleman? Think a tenacious young blood is just the thing to squeeze another season or 2 out of our captain. Medium term, none of em are good enough.

That’s my thinking, sometimes a tenacious youngster coming through gives another player that push, or helps spread the workload
Plus he has the passion that sometimes you just can’t buy.

Cheers for the feedback on him.

Doesn’t sound like he’s quite ready to walk into our starting line up.

Does that mean we need to sign sidibe?

Personally don’t think Coleman is a starter at right back going forward - he’s been a great servant to the club and probably one of the best bargains in the premier league but his age and nasty injury appears to have done him - he no longer looks composed on the ball, his darting runs and cracking deliveries seem to have dried up also.

With finances probably tight would Coleman he be an option in the middle of the park just in front of the back line - can read the game well and has an eye for a pass?

I always thought Baines might move into that role in midfield a bit like Philip Lahm did
I don’t want to see Sidibe signed permanently as he doesn’t bring enough and from what Ed has repeatedly said he wants out of the club, fed up of these players who aren’t interested don’t think they add enough and have no desire or not enough.
