Morgan and Theo did well, as for Seamus Sidibe and Davis no thanks at best Tom in the under 23s for a while, simply not good enough the other two no future under Carlo.

Why is it people can't wait for TD to fail as much as I hate that lot a cross the park one thing they are superb at is getting behind young players and look how they Excell maybe just maybe we should do the same because our fans want our young players to fail before they kick a ball as was proven by two fellas behind me yesterday they couldn't wait to give him a hard time.

09 Feb 2020 16:16:58
I really hoped that TD would kick on and become a first team regular and one day captain but he seems to have gone backwards to me. Ancelotti knows a player and he is behind Delph and Sigurdsson which says it all really. Gerrard was dominating games at a very young age much easier to get behind a player doing that.

09 Feb 2020 16:46:02
TD has carried us at times this season and been made capt by 4 diff managers (Silva Fat Sam Ferguson and Carlos) yet fans can't wait to say he's not good enough the same fans will prob call him a traitor if he leaves 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

09 Feb 2020 16:59:00
Don't want to get into a row about this, but what games did he carry us in? Tom just isn't good enough, and it doesn't really matter where he is from. That's just how it is. A lot of young players excel at a young age, but not many actually make it. To be honest I think Holgate is a better midfielder than Davies.

09 Feb 2020 17:22:27
I have to agree with Brassington. I'd love him to push on but he hasnt. He looked decent 2 seasons ago when our players were poor but he isn't anywhere near the Brands bought players. Holgate has outshone him when he has been in midfield.

09 Feb 2020 18:01:52
How about the games where Holgate got pushed into a mid a position he has no experience in and guess who played alongside him that's right TD some of our fans baffle me no doubt as I said you will call him a traitor if he leaves which is just sad here's an idea how about getting behind the kid as imagine being 22 and all you hear is your own fans wanting you too fail that must do loads to his confidence and will most definitely effect how he plays.

09 Feb 2020 19:02:39
Totally disagree about Seamus thought he played well and contained Zaha pretty well. Tom has lots to learn and still has the potential to be a very good player. Its funny that although he is so bad he is the one that 9 times out of 10 gets put on by the mangers out of position and asked to do a job for the team. He is suffering due to his versatility. CA will make a decision with Tom once the season is over and I have a feeling CA will keep him and turn him into a very good player given time.

09 Feb 2020 19:38:19
People who say tom davis is still young this lad is nerly 22
And he has had more than enough chances to prove what he has to offer and for me he isn't good enough he his decision making is terrible he doesn't give 100% and he gives the ball away to many times. Also when holgate got put in centre midfield i thought he was better than davis and give more and offered more tom davis will not see much off game time when gomes and gbamin and when carlo buys in the summer i guarantee that.

{Ed025's Note - i disagree that he does,nt give 100% callum, i think he works hard but i have to agree with you that at the moment he is just not good enough, he gives the ball away too cheaply and his decision making is poor at times, im desperate for him to do well mate being a local lad and all that but im afraid he can be a liability at times, but 21 is still young and under carlo,s tuition he can improve and no one would be happier than me if he does..

09 Feb 2020 19:52:30
Totally agree Seamus was really good against Zaha and forced him to swap wings to see if he could fair any better against Lucas, I know he plays across the front line seriously think Seamus more than contained him and only struggled when Theo was caught up field when he was injured.

As for TD seriously the guy is will dominate games when he plays his true position, and Gerrard never really broke through till he was mid 20's, and never was made to cover wings as he just wasn't quick enough to get back to defend and on the counter like TD does, besides he needs better quality coach and manager to learn from and above all some stability in the club, 5 different manager, 5 different sets of coaches, 5 different sets of training regimes, 5 different styles of play no wonder the lad some times seems confused all this in the seasons he should be learning and defining his playing style, the lads just confused, as we all would be at his age.

09 Feb 2020 20:05:52
I too agree with Ed25. He always puts a shift in but as a sub he should be coming on and affecting a game and he just doesn't.
He is still young and has time on his side but he will be 4 choice at best when our midfielders are fit and that is if we don't buy another.
For me he is another Besic or Mcarthy, we all want them to do well and he has a great engine but not much else.

{Ed025's Note - i agree smit..

09 Feb 2020 20:13:41
Ed i would love him to do well
When he came off the bench against Newcastle at home he didn't show 100% and also when he came on yesterday he didn't show 100%
The lads 21 turning 22 he should be hungry he is a blue i just can't see it in him to make it at this level hope he proves me wrong.

{Ed025's Note - i do too callum, sometimes its hard coming into a game from the bench or after a lay off mate and i think you may be confusing that with effort, as far as im concerned he gives his best for the team but at this time is short of the quality to make him a regular first teamer..

09 Feb 2020 20:49:08
Can i just point out that I don't want any of our players to fail. And I don't care where they are from, that is not important to me.

10 Feb 2020 01:42:22
I, like every other poster would like to see TD succeed but honestly -I can't see one Premier side that he could go into and improve it.

I don't believe he is 'young' anymore. There are plenty of others at his age who understand being caught on the ball or passing to the opposition isn't good. And what exactly is his best position?

Please, please prove me wrong Tom.

10 Feb 2020 10:32:11
Yeah TD has the attitude and all that but. He just hasn't improved in 3 years and though arguably still time to make the jump, I just don't see it. I think at our most generous, we loan him for a season to a Championship team or realistically take the first offer above £5mil for the lad and free up much needed space in our squad for a midfield replacement. Either way he must go. He's clearly got the crowd on his back too and he's just drowning everytime he takes a bad touch (which seems to be 75%of the time and if he does control it, his pass is blind to the opposition or is blasted at our own player who has no chance of controlling it and the crowd cr9p themselves and rightly spit frustration to the pitch, which panics everyone) has to leave this summer.

10 Feb 2020 11:23:42
he came of the bench and didn't do much wrong? we won the game 3-1 why has everyone taken this as an opportunity to jump on the back of tom davies? shocking really.

10 Feb 2020 12:44:27
I genuinely thought he was terrible when he came on. Spread panic through the team until Rikky scored a wonder goal to kill off Palace and lift the players to finish strongly. He would have been slaughtered had we not got 3 points. Headless chicken.

10 Feb 2020 14:10:05
davies came on after the richy goal?

10 Feb 2020 14:15:38
This time last year people were saying the exact same thing about Dom and Mason. years ago it was said about Seamus when he broke into the team. Fans screaming about giving academy players a chance, then if they are not world class in a cpl of months, they want rid of! So sad. Thank God you guys don't run the club!

10 Feb 2020 19:13:26
Oh fair point but otherwise I stand by my opinion of TD. He's had more than enough time compared to DCL and Holgate. He was still utterly rubbish and until the 3rd, was a liability.

10 Feb 2020 19:44:32
I'm not saying he has been brilliant toffeeapple but to be fair he has never had a consistent run in the side. So I wouldn't give up on him just yet. Look at the difference playing consistently has made for Dom and Mason.

10 Feb 2020 20:28:19
I think TD could do with a loan next season. To a top championship club, he'd get a bit more time on the ball and more time to make to the right decision. I don't think any prem team would take him. Worked wonders for holgate.

10 Feb 2020 20:35:51
Like I say above. The lad needs a loan for a season. I'm not writing him off but I watch every game and he's not even showing a flicker of the promise from 4 years ago. I would love him to make it but I don't see anything other than a below average prem player at best. Like you sayAf78. A year playing week in week out is what he needs. Not sure how even a successful loan gets him back in our match day squad though. He would have played a lot less if we hadn't had the midfield woes this season. Think he was given all kinds of kidology with captains armband etc but nothing seems to work for him. Miles behind where he should be and like someone else said, he's not that young either.

10 Feb 2020 21:18:54
I would have no problem with him going out on loan tbh. just don't like to see the guy getting slated all the time. He's playing in the most difficult position on the pitch imo and never had a run of games so would just like to see a little more patience that's all. I mean look at Lundstrum for example, we shipped him out years ago obviously thinking he wasn't good enough and now look at him.

11 Feb 2020 09:31:57
has to always be one scapegoat aflm78, its the way everton fans work mate, just won 3-1 and their slating a 21 year old lad who done nothing wrong when coming on. grim.

12 Feb 2020 09:05:12
It is a matter of opinion on Tom and others. Obvious thing to note but opinions are influenced by at the game and home supporters, while even at the game seat position can influence. My position (behind the net) , I see a down/ up field view, so influenced by head on. I do see Tom give the ball away but that is tempered by his 100 percent effort, drive and biting of ankles approach. When I played, those of Toms style were in my opinion an annoyance (mildly put) .
