Arsenal was DCL. Is this why he not been playing? Are we looking to sell to rebuild?
I suppose Michael Carrick is free if they do decide to sack rafa. Unbeaten as a manager. Hahaha.

The noises Rafa was making in his last press conference made me think that there’ll be a high profile sale this next window, or maybe the summer. £100m for either Richarlison or DCL and we may be able to buy 3/ 4 decent players with the money. Not sure how I feel about that tbh.

When DCL and / or Richarlison are sold, who do we replace them with. Got to be a top class striker to replace DCL and where are they, and would they want to come to a struggling club especially in January. Rafa hasn’t tested any of the younger ones so we don’t know if they can do it. More goals if we get chances have to come from others in the team.
Geoff, ref Michael Carrick, I think there is the making of a good manager in there for the future.

Who says it's any of them it was Pickford last week, and why would Arsenal pay a vast amount of money for DCL he's been out for the last 6 weeks.

Simply put we cannot get rid of DCL. If we lose him and get a poor striker in his place then it won't matter how much we sort out the rest of the team we won't replace his goals.
If we sell, sell Richy, will still be a loss but we at least won't have as many goals to replace.

If we sold one player for say 1m. That then doesn’t mean we can go and buy four for 25m.
Say that one player is on 100k a week, then you would have to pay the four coming in no more than 25k a week. Otherwise you will be putting the club in a worse ffp position.
Now just what level of quality players do you think you would get for 25k a week? Championship at best.

There are also several other factors to consider
The profit/ loss on any transfer is only shown in the accounts that the sale is made
If we sold in the January window the profit/ loss would be shown in the accounts for y/ e 30/ june 2022 and would not be considered in FFP calculation until Dec 2022 when the accounts are published
If we sold in the summer window the profit/ loss would be shown in the accounts for y/ e 30/ june 2023 and would not be considered in FFP calculation until Dec 2023 when the accounts are published
The profit/ loss is the fee less cost of the initial transfer fee still remaining in the balance sheet. The initial transfer fee is depreciated/ amortised over the term of the contract. If the contract is extended any balance is depreciated/ amortised on a straight line basis over the new contract period.
Depending on when any sale takes place I estimate there will be approx 5m on Pickford, 19m on Ricky and 180k on DCL which would have to be taken off any transfer fee to show the actual profit
So let's say we sell Ricky for 50m - actual profit is only around 31m and won't show in the books for 12 - 24 months
Can we replace him like for like for 31m
IF we buy 2-3 replacements on reduced fees Woburns question remains. Are we adding to wage bill. Are we adding to the strength of the squad
We might well have to take the route of selling our prized assets but it's rife with dangers.

It was a bit of a hypothetical statement really DFS. You’d hope to demand fees on that region for those players though surely?
