I think getting coutinho could be a good signing for us. He, at least, can shoot from midfield. We don't have much of that at the minute so I'd welcome him. We need firepower. I know he's 29 and would come with a big wage but who else is available? Its also mid season. We lack creativity in midfield and he could just be the answer between midfield and striker. Gomes, Davies, iwobi, Delph, gbamin will not bring goals but coutinho will. What do you lot think?

Is he not just another James waiting to happen? Big wages nothing to prove, injury ridden career since he moved? Sorry just think this is the sort of signing that has put the club in the position its in, we need younger hungrier players like he was when Liverpool signed him not seeing out his career taking a last big pay off!

{Ed077's Note - I agree.

Just for fun. Who would you guys rather see sign for Everton? Coutinho or Jesse Lingard?

02 Jan 2022 10:56:45
I’d go with Lingard, Ed077, after seeing him at West Ham last year, more energy and gives his all. That’s what we need.

02 Jan 2022 10:57:34
Fair point wakka but if the deal was right and it won't be anything like the James deal then would he be worth taking a punt on?

02 Jan 2022 10:57:59
Ed077 coutinho all day.

02 Jan 2022 11:06:08
of those two Lindgard.

02 Jan 2022 11:13:27
I'm sorry but lingard and that type of player is the reason we are in this mess. Most of our underperformers aren't 29 and above. They're younger with "bags of potential" that never gets fulfilled. He had a good loan spell that's it. We sign rejects. They have a decent first season or loan spell and then we realise why their previous clubs got rid. Our recent history is full of them! Yet the James deal is the one that gets everyone up in arms? Ask yourself this, would James have made a difference this season? Yes he bloody would have!

02 Jan 2022 11:24:48
Pauly if he is that good then why is he being offered to Everton and not a higher profile club? smacks of Barcelona desperate to ship him out.

{Ed002's Note - He has been offered to higher profile clubs.}

02 Jan 2022 11:50:35
Ed002 has answered for me ?.

02 Jan 2022 12:10:59
The important question is will he fit in with the managers plans assuming Rafa wants him?

02 Jan 2022 12:12:11
If we still had James then he would still be injured, so would have made no difference to this season. Guy doesn’t like the cold and was to lightweight for the Prem.

02 Jan 2022 12:30:49
Woburn that's a bit presumptious. His record really wasn't that bad. I can think of 10 players off the top of my head who give much less than an injured James.

02 Jan 2022 12:36:44
Yea and those higher profile clubs are just queuing up to sign him aren’t they?

{Ed002's Note - Kia is talking to a number of clubs.}

02 Jan 2022 12:38:39
James had no heart. Ancelloti gave him a chance and he blew it. Now He plays where exactly?

02 Jan 2022 12:40:24
Coutinho is to forward thinking for Rafa and can’t defend. Think he will go to Villa and Gerrard will get the best out of him.
