Now we know who's relegated, and with us all in agreement that we have a large collection of woeful players on the books, if you had to pick one, who would you take from the relegated teams that would do a job for us or improve the squad? To be honest, I'm sorry we let Josh King go, despite his injuries. Decent player and taught us a lesson or three when we played Watford at home this season. Most will probably agree Cornet has the best stats while Pope would be good if we isn't have Pickford. Just a bit of fun, so don't take it too seriously. I know really we should be going all in for Messi ?.

Cornet, Sarr, Pope, Denis, Cantwell, Tarkowski - they’d all improve our squad. I’d like to see us try and pick up some young players with potential.

{Ed002's Note - if the Everton fans think the way forward is to buy players that have been relegated then they do not need a coach like Lampard. Good to see you are so easily satisfied.}

From Burnley:
Pope if we need to replace Pickford. Cornet to add creativity and replace Townsend or Sigurddson.

From Watford:
Dennis to replace Richarlison if he’s sold

From Norwich:
Gilmour to replace any of Gomes/ allan/ doucore/

Wouldn’t want any of the other players in their squads as our squad is bad enough and only just stayed up, whereas those squads took their teams down.

Are you saying even though they have been relegated? If so, what about Idrissa Gueye?

Are you saying even though they have been relegated? If so, what about Idrissa Gueye?

{Ed002's Note - What I am saying is that the past couple of days have shown many of the Everton supporters to have little grasp of reality, a complete lack of understanding about FFP and the financial aspects of the game, and now the desire to replace the players that kept the club in the Premier League with those from relegated sides. It is almost too bizarre to comprehend.}

Totally agree Ed, however we need to be realistic, get rid of the mediocre players on high wages, then let Frank build foundations, it will take time, expectancy must be realistic this season. Its also great that Sharpy is on the board.

22 May 2022 19:38:03
Calm down, Ed.
I think the question was ‘if’ we were to buy from those teams, who would we buy.
We can’t buy off the top table and so we have to consider whoever is available to us.
Think Liverpool were after Sarr at one point?
If Pickford was to be sold, Pope would be an excellent replacement - would you not agree?

{Ed002's Note - you a
You are rather missing how the game works. The mess is largely due to a series of huge mistakes by the club.}

22 May 2022 20:03:44
Not being funny Ed but the players did not keep us in the league. The fans did. The players were responsible, alongside rafa, for the performances that put us in this position. Frank and his team in conjunction with the fans dragged those same players over the line.

Relegated clubs do have some decent players. Takes 25 man squad to send a club down so thereby be a few gems amongst them to improve our squad.

As Ed says, we have to live within the constraints set by the Premier league in regards to ffp. We may not be able to do much 'buying'.

The club is a holy mess and is going to take a long time to fix. There will be no spending spree, even if we sell our top assets, dcl, richy, etc.

Ed02 I think the clue was a little bit of fun not a right who should we sign from the relegated teams and as for FFP can you point me in the direction of our fans having a complete lack of understanding of FFP as from your replys today you really need to take a seat and have a nice whisky and chill as the post was for a bit of light hearted fun shame you had to get so upset by it.

{Ed002's Note - I am not upset - I am astonished you think the fans are having fun by showing their ignorance of the finances. It gets more and more embarrassing.}

22 May 2022 21:26:30
Ed02 who is showing a ignorance of finances not once did anyone say right go buy all these players the question was for a bit of fun who would you take from the relegated sides after all this is the banter page and you have gone on like we are a bunch of arrogant fans which is untrue as I said take a seat pour a whiskey and chill not every post by fans is serious as for the finances I think as a group of fans we all know how badly run we are and all understand we haven't got a pot to pee in.

{Ed002's Note - The Everton supporters on this page have demonstrated a complete ignorance of finance and FFP. Now you are trying to pass off the stupidity about transfers as a joke. The joke is clear. The embarrassment, I am sure, won’t bother you.}

22 May 2022 21:49:37
ED02 I have asked you to to show me where our fans have an ignorance of FFP and there was no stupidity about transfers it was an innocent question about who would we take from the relegated teams the fact is you have for some reason decided to make a big deal of it which is rather embarrassing anyway I'm off to enjoy my night with my family and watch MOTD you can look in the other teams pages for a fight because I'm too old and embarrassed by your replys to carry this on.

{Ed002's Note - Keeping posting the same thing is making you look more and more embarrassing. I have answered. I hope you enjoy your evening with your family. I have no idea how your age or embarrassment comes in to this.}

22 May 2022 22:16:44
Well this escalated quickly for a post that wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

22 May 2022 21:55:51
We’re all embarrassing ourselves this evening then.

23 May 2022 08:00:55
"Just a bit of fun, so don't take it too seriously". I think you took it a bit too serious mate. Also my point alluded to the fact that decent purchases can be made from relegated sides. If Everton got relegated would that mean that any premier league side should avoid signing any Everton player? I don't think there would be much to gain from buying any of the players relegated to be honest unless a select couple were nominal purchases.

23 May 2022 09:38:34
We could have done with Ed002 in a room with Moshiri and his advisors about 6 years ago we may not have been in the situation we are now. To be fair ed002 I think you are being a bit harsh I think a lot of us understand the clubs position regarding finances but don't really know the detail. As for buying players relegated then there are a few out there that would improve the squad, the problem is we need to sell and use the money to improve the bank balance not reinvest in the squad. Getting wages of the book will help but we have a long way to go by the look of it. In an ideal world If it was me I would try to develop and sell as many of the academy players we don't think would make the first team. Have a sensible a budget for players wages and don't buy any player who exceeds the limit. Also limited the amount of players we have over a certain age and limit their contract length based on their age. I would also try to reduce the basic wages and supplement with performance related pay. Finally I would have a set agents fee that would not be a % of the transfer but a fixed amount. Never going to happen but we can dream.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think I have been harsh. I have explained for the past year or more that the club has significant debt and significant FFP issues they needed to address, but many said I was wrong and scaremongering. Now what I am seeing is supporters who simply do not understand the rules and guidance, and do not grasp the situation. I have simply being making an effort to make matters clear. I won't do that in the future.}

23 May 2022 10:52:26
Talk about generalisation.

23 May 2022 18:46:32
I’m taking my ball and going home ?.

23 May 2022 20:22:27
Ed02 - you are always incredibly insightful on here and your posts are useful and interesting. It does feel this thread became toxic quite quickly. It is now transfer season and it is a rumours site so I thought the question was interesting.

I don’t think we can afford to sign many players due to us being up the creak but if we were to sell Pickford, I’d hope someone like Pope could be bought to replace him. But unless the players are extremely cheap, I think we will struggle to get anyone this summer.

It’s really outgoings we will be looking at to try and balance the books. That will be helped by several contracts ending. Let’s hope we can bring through youth, offload a handful of others and then possibly buy a decent CB to marshal the defence.
