We all want Gallagher but you just know we will end up with Barkley don't you haha. Tbh though I'd rather him over the likes of Gomes/ Davies in the midfield.

I don't get the hate for Tom Davies it's almost like some fans have to hate a local player the kids been very unlucky IMO never had a manager who has stayed longer than a couple of years so never really had a set position and been asked to fill lots of different roles, is it too late for him at Everton who knows look what Frank has done to Iwobi so maybe now is the time we get to see what the kids all about but one thing I will never bad mouth that kid or say he's not good enough after all he's living our dream by playing for the club he and us love.

I don’t hate him mate haha. Just don’t think he’s premier league standard. His passing range is poor, no goal scoring ability, no pace. I’d keep him as a squad player but if we want to improve he shouldn’t be a starter for me.

10 Jun 2022 08:59:19
Davies is good squad player on reasonable wages. If we can't replace him with an academy player then why get rid just to bring someone in to replace him at more cost. If we have a good academy player that could replace him then selling would be a viable option.

TD has had plenty of opportunity and has played a lot of games. Last season obviously he'd have had an amazing stage due to our squad difficulties to show some of us but sadly he was injured. But let's not pretend we havnt seen enough of him the last 6 years to know he is a liability in the tackle, too slow with and without the ball and lacking any obvious ability to work make a pass, find a player or make a tackle. He is lower end championship level. Due to our financial circumstances and him not being worth much in transfer or wages, he will likely stay as a cheap plug as with JJK and Holgate. Our priority has changed and these young cheap average players are not the immediate issues to be sorted this or next window. I hope 1 of them finally kicks on but I have my doubts. Our 30 somethings who have been stealing a wage are the priority this window to get rid and replace.

Davies is just not good enough, we need to move on and let players of that ilk go if we want to improve.

10 Jun 2022 11:08:22
I can't believe some fans still think davies is a player to play for this club. He has never been good he has been playing premier league football for 6+ years he has never give us anything to consider him a starter. Move this lad.

10 Jun 2022 11:08:50
Unrealistic to think we can ship all the players we think aren’t good enough out and replace them.

So clearly going to have to keep some of them

With that in mind - who out of Gomes and Davies would you keep?

Personally I’d keep Davies as he’s still young and has the potential to improve under Lampard. Gomes seems to be regressing and has 1 good game in 5.

10 Jun 2022 11:31:11
Tom Davies. Neither hated or rated.

10 Jun 2022 12:19:45
Davies gives his all for the team every game but unfortunately 'his all' isn't of the right quality for the Premiership

His reasonable wages are still £1.6 million a year, He might still be a reasonable 'squad' player but to me he's keeping academy graduates from their chance in the squad/ team. Davies has had his chance and frankly hasn't taken it

If we could move him on I think it would be best for both him and the team.

10 Jun 2022 14:46:45
Ginger Dan out of the two I would keep Davies as a squad player, I don’t think either have a long term future in the first team
Gomes is allegedly attracting interest from Mourinho so hopefully he firms that interest up with a bid though I can’t see it happening.

10 Jun 2022 15:01:16
Neither Hope both are gone next season.

10 Jun 2022 16:07:29
Come on guernsey that wasn’t an option - I imagine majority would agree with you.

The question is out of Gomes and Davies if one has to go and one has to stay which one would you want to stay?

10 Jun 2022 16:10:18
Not sure why people think our academy players would be better than Davies, but hey if their not we can slate them too.
I would be for giving the lad a go in the squad and see how he goes under Frank. Let’s face it he got Iwobi playing, and according to most on here he should have been first out the door.

GB is a Tom Jones groupie.

10 Jun 2022 19:10:55
Imagine being a scouser and playing for the club you love and yet you have fans tell you your rubbish I'm actually grateful I was never good enough to play for Everton as imagine being a young lad and having people with half your ability telling you your rubbish how embarrassing.

11 Jun 2022 07:16:51
Some posters need to hold their hands up and be honest as to admit that the reason they want Tom to stay and play is purely because he is 'local' and nothing else.
His ability or lack of it comes secondary to them, whether it's a subconscious thing or deliberate, it still doesn't make up for the player's alarmingly consistent poor performances.

11 Jun 2022 09:46:44
Reason people want TD to stay is because although we all know he hasn't met the high expectations we all put on him when he made his debut as a teenager, and we all remember when playing as a 10 ran City ragged with exceptional passing and vision. Yet as with majority of youth players under Moshiri's regime they have been wasted by revolving door managers, the kid must of had 10-12 different managers/ head coaches/ caretaker managers. So who has let down who, I know I would seriously consider my options before I signed for Everton, it is hard to think of any academy graduates who have played more than TD, they seam to go elsewhere to play. I wonder why?

{Ed025's Note - its ok to have a go at the revolving door policy BB but sometimes it can be the kid, he has been a constant underperformer for most of his career and gives the ball away far too cheaply, always looks tired to me with those socks rolled down as though it was extra time even after 10 minutes, maybe hes happy to just meander along on his £1.3m a year, you never know mate..
