Reports of Stake.com to appear on shirts

This baffles me as I thought we dropped Sportpesa over the morality of gambling and looking to not promote it
Now a complete 180 and looking at another gambling based sponsor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don’t think we can be picky at this moment in time because of finances. We have leagues called sky bet. Sky bet sponsors the matches we watch on tele betting companies on the adverts at the end of the day it’s just business.

Too much is being made of this with the media in full attack mode and you would think we are the only club with a gambling sponsor, the telegraph ran a negative story yesterday and in the middle was a sly bet advert the hypocrisy is astounding, me I'm not arsed who's on the front as long as they pay us the most.

Well I've never been to the NEC or bought a car from Cazoo so having a gambling company on shirts isn't going to make me want to bet either. And if you don't believe me then I'll bet anyone I'm telling the truth ?.

ST that’s a good point. It’ll be interesting to see the clubs take on this if true.

I don't know why people are moaning about this deal so much. As already posted by several people on here, if it's good enough to have the sky bet leagues then there is no problem with a club having a betting firm as a shirt sponsor.
We are being told that it is the most lucrative of our history so that will help alleviate our debts and help towards ffp. It makes no sense to complain about it. People will gamble regardless of what's on a football shirt.

But it's ok the have the world cup where it is.

Feels a lot like the advertising by cigarette companies in the past. It’s a fine line between what is appropriate and what is not. Gambling can destroy lives the same way booze has though doesn’t have the physical effects of smoking. Do we want to be promoting this to younger supporters?

If the club are going ahead with gambling sponsors because we are in a pit due to bad financial management, I’d like to see a lot more ‘bet responsibly’ and gamble awareness slogans to combat it around the ground, Everton media, website etc.

BR, Everton FC ruin lives yet there are no awareness programs around the ground or surrounding area.
As with all clubs, there will be a few kids that are impressionable that support us but does that mean a shirt sponsor is going to make them gamble? Some will, some won't. What is the difference between a shirt sponsor and the league sponsor? Wouldn't the latter reach a bigger audience than one club?
If the ruling bodies think gambling sponsorship is bad then they need to stop it altogether, starting from the top. Leagues, cups etc should lead by example and not have any gambling related sponsorships, not just club shirts.
