Proper wrecks my head when you hear statements from people inside the club, fans or media along the lines of "Now we can't chuck money at signings". "We will have to be sensible/ clever in the market". "Need to make smart investments". "Get value for money".

Surely that should be and should have been the clubs philosophy regardless of whether we are hindered by FFP or not.

Makes you sick to your stomach when you run through all the absolute shower we have wasted money on. Not even a shred of a plan to work from and equally no vision to work towards.

If we don't have a deadline day close to the one we had under Martinez we are bang in trouble. In fact, even if we do, we still are.

The only saving grace we may have is that there are some other terrible sides in the division and unfortunately for them, they can't call upon a set of fans (for the most part) that can pull them through games at home.

All that being said, i would much rather have the thrill of a relegation scrap than finish bottom half of the table and safe, as crazy as that may seem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully the fans will get behind the club this season from the off, having realised what a significant difference it made at the end of last season. I've seen though that those "supporters" at the 27 years group are drumming up support to protest against the club on the eve of the new season - smashing vibe to create that isn't it. Can only presume they are either brain dead or not actually Everton supporters.

This is not football manager. Hindsight is a great thing.
How many players over the last 5 years would you have bought for Everton who were less than £30 million, have gone to a similar size team and have been a success?

Half the Villa squad. Saint-Maximan? Christian Eriksen? Raphina? Quite a few.
We’ve spent poorly, no doubt about it.

People saying we have spent poorly. But I remember an awful lot of supporters getting very excited when we bought the likes of Siggy, Gomes, Mina, Klaassen, Bolasie, Lookman etc.
Our biggest issue is with the amount of managers we have been through. Maybe if we had kept Martinez and given him money to spend instead of bringing in Koeman. Then we wouldn't have had this avalanche of managers, and subsequently blown fortunes on players.
For example letting Fat Sam blow nearly 50m on Walcott and Tosun.

ToffeeDavey, may as well mate the Club finishes behind everyone else!

Finished 8th that Season Brassington. 7th Koeman, 8th Alardyce, 8th Silva, Ancelloti 12th and 10th, Lampard 16th.

So maybe Brass is right dfs. Changing the manager was not the answer.

22 Jul 2022 20:59:03
Changing the Manager is not the answer 'normally', let's just say we left it a bit late last season.

What do you mean, this isn't football manager. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Because i feel we have wasted money on pointless signings that add nothing to the team. Players who have played at a higher level through their peak years and drop down to us to see out a nice big pay check.

There are plenty of other signings we could have made over the years that would have been a better fit for us as a club. The first attributes we should look for are players that work their bollocks off for the team, the fans and the club as a whole.

The Bowens, Robertsons, Maddisons as opposed to Walcotts, Tosuns Keanes.

Get a grip. We have spunked money down the drain and now it is coming back to bite us more than ever.
