A lot of people have made an issue of the ages of Gueye and Tarkowski.
I am all for bringing in young, hungry talent, I so wish we took the Dortmund/ Porto/ Benfica model to transfers when we was throwing around silly money at players.
But let's remember we survived relagation by the skin of our teeth last season, yes we are bringing in Gueye and Tarlowski at 32 and 30 respectively but they play in positions that players play at a high level to their mid thirties and we need a short fix first before our long term project starts with us not being in the Premier league. I think these two are quality signings that will strengthen us dramatically.

We are not in the position to set ourselves up for the next season and the next 5 years years at the same time. We have great young players in my opinion and McNeil has youth on his side. We need players for right now, ones that are financially viable also. I would imagine Gueye would cost a relatively small fee and Tarkowski was a free so it makes its smart business and improves us for the short term which should be our priority. Dobbin, Braintwaite, Welch, Warrington, Onyango and Gordon all show promise Nd Mykolenko has plenty of room age wise to improve so I think we are actually good on that front. Tarkowski and Gueye have the mentality and experience we need also.

We (not me) are still in the mindset of 30-50 years ago regarding fitness, physique and health. 30's today is still teenage stuff.

I imagine having trained for 2 years with the quality in PSG squad, he's probably a better player now than when he left.

He probably is Rick but age is against him mate. Agree with Dan 8.4m seems a little high. Thought we might have got him for about 5m, with a 1 year contract and the option to take up another year.

If they are good enough then they are old enough. That should go both ways for youth coming through or players that are nearing the end of their careers. As long as they improve the squad then that's all that matters. Age is just a number.
