We have to go for a young striker with potential. We cannot afford to give another ageing or striker who has lost his way and just come to us to take the wages and give us nothing.

Whether we like it or not bad management has us put is in a situation were we have to invest in young talent and hopefully sell on for decent money.
This has to be our business model until we can make ourselves a better option for investors/ sponsors, hopefully after we move to Bramley Dock.

Your not wrong. I think our financial position has us rummaging roung bargain bins, but there's some good players to be had from that. Bat's and Ross improve us, no question. Gueye coming back is a short term but strong fix. All in all we lost Richy but got McNeill in. Talk of Dennis, Cornet etc ain't bad if we get one of them in. Prefer Dennis as he can play up top. And as we hzve no strikers for 1st game of season I fear we going to have dele as a false 9, so I'd love a striker to be brought in. Not as back up but as a genuine contender for 1st team place. Belotti would be good but not surd if he has signed for anyone yet.

We had one? Kean.

So long as we don't get another winger and make him play striker because we won't get lucky again with a Rikkie type character who could play as striker if he had to. So yes if this Cormet deal was always part of the plan for this window fair enough but if we go after him now because of Doms injury, that really would be repeating the same mistake. Let's get a striker please, as FL has stated several times "we really need to start getting round pegs for round holes and playing players in their positions"
This is the cost we keep paying for never (all together now) replacing Lukaku. I wonder if this is the green light to get Bats deal on even if it was press guff before now, he seems to be an affordable real number 9. What a mess. I feel much more confident we will ship a significantly less goals with JT but if we go into yet another season toothless, this league will bite us back. Even with DCL we weren't looking great but now we look in big trouble again. Praying we unearth an unlikely hero. Ridiculous situation.

Why does everyone think Bats is the answer, he is exactly what we don't need. Rather have a youngster who give his all for the shirt for 90 minutes than some journeyman who has not proved himself anywhere, but will demand a large signing on fee and salary and give diddle squat to the cause!

Lhrblue, what youth striker? They are out on loan.

03 Aug 2022 17:13:52
Journeyman? He's been at Chelsea forever and I don't think it's much of a slight to any player who can't hold down there number 9. he's played something like 75 games and scored 25 goals for them. Last year in Turkey he played about 30 games and scored 14. He is what 28? You must be on about someone else maybe? I'm not saying he's the answer but he's a premier league player who is a physical striker who when given minutes scores and makes assists and is available now on the cheap. Instead of moaning why don't you throw out a name or 2? Or you just going to cry because we loaned out some youths who were never good enough anyway?

15 goals in 75 premier league games does not sound like the answer brownshoes.

03 Aug 2022 18:40:15
Minutes played he scores a goal every 170 minutes. Just over a goal every 2 games.

Turkey 1 in 2, not a bad return.

What are Rondon’s stats? (i. e. if he is better, at a reasonable price and we can’t find better than why not? )
