Defence and midfield sorted, we still need a couple of strikers who would be your choices to bring in Batshuai for one not sure another one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why batshuyai?
I genuinely don’t get why we’d want him when his premier league goal scoring record is so poor 15 goals in 77 games!

Admittedly he’s probably better than a player sat in the treatment room, but I’m not convinced by him. He’s played enough games in the premier league to know whether he’s good enough and for me his stats say he’s not.

We should be going all out to get Belotti imo GB but from what the Ed's have advised, it isn't a go-er.

Appreciate there may be interest from Italian clubs but no one seems to be banging down his door to get him in.

I wanted the lad when he was on the market for 50/ 60m a couple of years ago, banging them in for Torino, let alone now when the lad won't cost a penny in transfer fees.

There isn't too many available that would fall within our budget/ limitations mate.

That being said, i didn't expect us to throw 30 odd million at Onana.

The names i think could be explored are:

Embolo - Monchengladbach
Pasalic - Atlalanta
Beto - Udinese
Unal - Getafe
Terrier - Rennes

Out of the above. Terrier or Beto would be my picks, although both very different players.

I think most of them would command a fair amount of money but as i say, i am not sure how much we have. You would like to think we have something to throw at a striker otherwise you would have thought we would have got Coady in on a perm and left a loan slot for up top.

We need someone GB as Rondon won't cut it. I would have a different opinion if he were 5 years younger.

{Ed077's Note - Embolo has just joined Monaco..

Bat's not for me if we can be choosy!

Brereton, Dennis, Morelos, striker we linked with from Rennes. Has Ancelotti not got any who he would sell cheap lol.

I think Bats for under 10 mill would be good business and maybe Terrier its one of them two as i can't see us affording both.

Money must start to be getting tight I thought Batshuai would have jumped at the chance to resurrect his career, Belotti would be WOW.

Can some please explain why they think Batshuayi would be a good signing? As far as I am concerned I don't think he's any better value than Rondon. He is 28yr old on @90Kpw with goal record that is hardly inspiring. I reckon you would need spend between £5m-£10M and offer a 3yr contract with a pay rise to get him to sign in the 1st place that leaves us with a player on high wages with little to no sell on fee that may not even give us a decent return goal wise. Is this just a case of he's been linked in the media, Ed002 stated that EFC had held interest in him and other more well known options are out of our price bracket? Or are people starting to panic due to DCL injury and just want to see a signing up front?

Just to shine light on his 15 goals in 77 matches. Barely any starts and of those appearances his contribution in minutes is very low. So a fairer and truer stat of his goals in his career as a striker are 0.52 goals per 170 minutes. Now that's over a goal every 2 games. He scored 14 in 33 in Turkey with 5 assists last season. If the price is right I personally think he'd be looking to a CL club but if he were to arrive, I'd not be shocked if he was great for us. If he could get 15 to 20 goals and say 5 or so assists, we'll be in a very healthy position come the final day. Seems like a few interesting names are now in the frame but bat's for me would be welcome. Now we have no loan option it's all about a price and a structured deferred payments though I think hell go on loan to a CL club.

Just to shine a light - “barely any starts” - that speaks volumes.

09 Aug 2022 14:12:29
Got your maths wrong there brown shoes. 170 minutes is just shy of 2 games. So would be more like 0.6 goals per 2 games.

09 Aug 2022 14:14:58
Brownshoes does the fact that out of the 77 matches he has had barely any starts not concern you? If he was that good I would have thought he would have played his way into the starting line up. As for his record in Turkey that's pretty good rivals Tosun at his best.

Cheers Ed077. Great signing for them!

Sa90. Bat wouldn't be my first choice but do i think he is better than what we have up top at the club, then it is a yes.

As brownshoes said, a lot of his minutes have come off the bench when games are nearly dead and buried. I remember his initial loan with Palace he did quite well for them. He did the same at Dortmund. Then when he has played games e. g. Beskitas or Marseille his numbers are fairly decent.

I doubt the lad will have many miles on the clock for a 28 year old.

For sub 10 mill I would take a punt. As long as we negotiate properly and offer a sensible deal/ terms, i think it is worth it. If the price/ wage demands are excessive then politely move on.

It's not my maths mate, it's from his telemarketer page. 0.52 goals per game throughout his club and international career.

I'm not defending him but after someone on here started a thread on Bat's with "here's some stats and facts about Bat's" and then just made their post a personal statement about how they didn't rate him or like him and made it a slating with zero facts, and monaed about him being a "journeyman" I thought I'd find a fact or 2. I agree with the last post:for a fee around 5 to. 8 mil on a staggered plan, he'd be the best striker we've had since Lukaku. When he plays he's scores, it's clear. Unfortunately he's not had enough to break into Chelsea (not too much of a disgrace considering their level? ) I'd imagine him leaving a CL club that finished 3rd would definitely improve a club who needed a collapse from Burnley to survive.

As for Tosun. Even in Turkey and even for Turkey he struggled to be a player that made things happen, slow, can't tackle and can't dribble. But if left to play off the last man and to stay in 6 yard box on corners, he scored, he scored lots of goals. We had him starting on the half way line and trying to close players down. He was never that player so he obviously looked crap for us. The few goals he got he was in the box where he was pretty accurate finisher. I like the sound of this 6ft7 lump we are in for too but either way it's a gamble. People often bang on about premier league experience and Bat's seems the only one linked with that no? I'd wager he's better than DCL.

09 Aug 2022 13:39:40
Is there better than Batshuayi? Yes for sure. But at a comparable price point and who we can attract is what needs to be taken into account. He's a good, solid attacker, doesn't seem to kick up a stink about playing time, gives us much better strength in depth and if he started games I'd have confidence he can put the ball in the net unlike our current situation.
I think he'd be a very good addition to the squad as a whole and that's what we need because we struggled to put out 11 players this past season, never mind a tough World Cup year with an option to utilize 5 subs.

09 Aug 2022 17:12:55
When Batshuayi first arrived in the PL I thought he was going to be a top striker, didn't turn out that way unfortunately for him. If he comes in on his current wage structure on a 3yr deal his overall cost would be something in the region of £20m. That doesn't seem cheap for a squad striker that is sitting on the bench, add that to the fact we would be unlikely to make a profit on a future sale it just doesn't make much sense to me. If we do buy him then I'll support him and hope he proves me wrong.
