If reports are to be believed, Godfrey has around six suitors wanting to sign him this January. If we can get a decent chunk of our cash back then a move would make sense, he just hasn't been the same since he was ill a good while back.
If we can also get rid of MK and add another centre back who can hit the ground running in January, that would be good business for the club. A big if though I suppose.

Sell Keane keep Godfrey. Six other teams can’t all be wrong.

On current form then I wouldn't be adverse to selling both of them, Woburn. How long can we wait for Godfrey to rediscover his form? Think it would be wise to cash in rather than let his contract run down like we have with other players. We need the cash!

Godfrey is a good player, cb, dm, lb, who are you going to get to replace him.

Was a good player, DFS. But, as I said above, he has been awful since he come back from sickness and doesn't look like the same player. Not sure how long he has left on his contract but I'd sell before letting it run down. You say he's good as a DM, have we even seen him play there?
As for who comes in as replacement, I'd expect both Dyche and Thelwell have targets in mind.

Yep with you on Godrey Bluepotato. Think suits both parties.
Would do well get around £15million, contract runs out summer of 2025 so just over 18months left.

He hasn't been the same since he fractured his fibula but he should be coming in instead of Keane. his problem for me is. he can play across the back 4 but doesn't get to play in the same position enough and that has hampered his progress. he started to look good then gets injured and can't get the game time in that settled position and when he makes a mistake ie playing LB we all get on his back saying why is he playing there? He just needs to take his chance when it comes and give SD a headache. I have always rated Godfrey.

Is a very good point Ron on him having a settled role to find some consistency, the versatility players are invaluable to squads.
As you rated Godfrey but has stagnated and for sale of his career and for us to freshen up the squad probably best to move on whilst we can command a fee, equally love him to get back to his levels and fulfill his early potential he showed.

I totally get that but who do you get as a replacement Because at this moment and hoping are 2 main CB's stay fit. who do we get that is happy to sit on the bench? Because unless injures or suspension god forbid they aren't getting dislodged anytime soon. i do like Anderson for Palace who is underated but I'm hoping he has a shocker tomorrow ?????. I reckon we will win 3 or 4.1 tomorrow COYB ????.

Mocker, if that's the case on the length of his contract then the club does have a decision to make. Either sell him while there's interest for a decent fee or run the risk of losing him on a free in 18 months. Shame it's turned out how it has for him, he looked top quality when he arrived.
You have a point, Ron. Versatility can actually hamper a player as they never get to nail down one position. I'd keep him before MK in all honesty but I think Godrey will garner more interest. Not sure who we would look at for replacements but I'm sure the club have been planning for this sort of situation. Cash will have a big say on it probably, it will certainly dictate the quality of player we can get.

I remember Rodwell was going to be the nxt big thing as a CB and played a few games as a holding midfielder and that was his position from then on. he had a career playing there but I always think could he of become a world class defender instead of a decent enough holding midfielder except for injuries ?.
10 Nov 2023 23:47:52
Bluepotato I meant would be a good DM, you can see it.
11 Nov 2023 01:23:26
Agree with you there, Ron. But for injuries, Roswell could have been an excellent player. Shame really.
DFS, I get you mate. I thought I must have missed him playing in that role at some point!
{Ed001's Note - it was his lifestyle and lack of effort that did for his career, his injuries were a symptom of that.}
