Other clubs seem to command much higher fees for their sought after players.
I think Southampton got £58 mill for Lavia. We have a Belgian in Onana who is keeping him out of the national team in the same position. He has experience in 3 major European leagues, he has captained his country and a lot of big clubs were rumoured to be interested.
A 17 million mark up for me represents poor business, especially when we lose a portion of that profit anyway.

We are in a precarious position with finances to say the least and we should be getting the most money we can for our most saleable assets to put us in a better position.

Any player, at any time is worth exactly what the highest bidder is prepared to pay. Personally, I think 50 million is a good deal in the current market.

£50m based on what he did for us in 2 years feels like we’ve had villas pants down.
He could well go on to be a world class player, however definitely didn’t show that whilst with us and we even played better when he wasn’t in the team.
Hope he does well and Villa may suit him but don’t think we can grumble at the price we received for a player we probably won’t miss.

On a serious note, wish him the best. We've done alright out of it in what is now a difficult market due to PSR.
We're bringing people in and I think we'll look like a very capable squad next year. I'm only looking at the top half for us.

Tbf when someone looks at an asset, they usually value that by comparing against the other similar assets and how much they have sold for recently.
Property, vehicles, acquisition of businesses, why wouldn’t you do the same with football players?
