With Lindstrom coming in on loan I guess that mean Phillips won't be joining Everton this summer.
24 Jul 2024 07:23:58
Heard yesterday on talkspprt that the Harrison deal was a obligation to buy next summer for £11 million, not sure how true that is as not read or heard that before.
And potentially the Lundstrum deal could be obligation. So Phillips may well happen still swinners.
24 Jul 2024 08:05:52
For £11m, I could possibly get behind that. If we could get him on his favoured wing, he might start banging in a few.
24 Jul 2024 12:09:44
none of the above matters in terms of Phillips
because Lindstrom is a loan, why does that impact a potential loan deal for Phillips?
also an obligation for loan doesn't affect other loans, it's still a loan obligation or not?
not sure why signing a winger/ AM on loan would affect clubs approach for a CM/ DM on loan?
24 Jul 2024 13:01:40
It very matters WBlue as a obligation to buy would allow us to loan another, a option to buy is different as deemed as a loan.
24 Jul 2024 13:27:52
Premier League clubs are restricted to 2 loans. An obligation to buy does not count as a loan deal.
24 Jul 2024 14:36:45
people get this wrong every summer, the wording on the premier league website is awful
obligations to buy are still treated as loan deals, otherwise they wouldn't be called loan to buy
premier league clubs are allowed FOUR loans per season, but only TWO are allowed to be from domestic sides
EFC can still loan 2 more.
even go back to 13/ 14 as an example. none were loan to buy but we loaned Lukaku/ Barry/ Deulofeu/ Traore
2 domestic 2 foreign.

The rules on loans changed a couple of seasons ago WBlue I believe.
Very confusing I agree, not sure if am right but that's my understanding.
Only 2 at any given time and maximum 4 in a season.
Obligation to buys don't class as a normal loan is my understanding, might be wrong.
24 Jul 2024 15:37:26
even the wording doesn't make sense though, only 2 at a given time and max of 4 per season.
burnley had more than 2 last season too, trust me it's 2 domestic max, 4 max overall
obligations to buy still class as a loan as it;s still classed as a loan that you've got him for, as Lindstrom will still be officially a Napoli player for 24/ 25 even if it was an obligation, he'd just be on loan at EFC until the obligation kicked in next summer
like Moise Kean was still our player whilst on loan at Juve even though it was an obligation.
24 Jul 2024 15:49:35
Not sure 100% either way WBlue mate. But am of the understanding it's 2 in only at any given time hense why we only had Danjuma and Harrison last season and couldn't get anyone else in even with the thin squad we had, and also again my understanding is the obligation to buy is different to a standard loan
Sure we will find out soon enough.
Think talkspprt might be getting confused to as said the Harrison loan was a obligation to buy next summer for £11 million, but just read Everton may look to purchase him this summer for £11million, that maybe is to create a loan space, perhaps Phillips.
Seems the Lundstrum deal is a option and not a obligation so deemed a loan, my understanding anyway.

You do make a valid point on Burnley WBlue so perhaps you are correct.
Does make you wonder tho why for last 2 seasons we haven't maximised it if is as you say.
24 Jul 2024 13:46:15
Wblue2 all to do with the amount of loans a club can have at any one time.
Think it’s 2 at any one time but can be up to 4 over the season - however that may alter if there are obligations to buy in the deal?
Sure Ed002 has gone over this previously as it can get quite confusing.
24 Jul 2024 15:42:16
I believe Ed002 summed it up well the other year when Tottenham seemed to loan more players than allowed as some had obligations to buy which was basically just a permanent signing just delayed
Loans are just a pure loan with no set agreement to purchase.
24 Jul 2024 17:18:45
What I thought chaps, but he does make a valid point on Burnley,
They had Fofana, Assisnon, Larsen, Esteve all on loan at the same time, none of which are obligated to buy and all returned to parent clubs.
What's even more confusing is 1 was Domestic Fofana Chelsea) other 3 were from European leagues, assignon Rennes and Esteve Montpellier with Larsen from Hoffenheim) which contradicts the written rule and explanation given.
All very confusing as per usual and no clarity.
Sorry WBlue you may well be correct but still unsure this end?.
24 Jul 2024 17:27:09
Sorry my mistake Esteve has since joined Burnley permanently but wasn't a obligation apparently.
Further confusing is Assignon, Fofana and Esteve all signed on loan for Burnley in the January transfer window ending on Feb 1st.
Larsen joined on loan July 2023.
Now am very confused! ??.

I thought you had to pass Go, collect a community chest token where it’s your birthday then but up two stations and The Strand. Only then can you pick up from the ‘chance’ deck and if it says you are allowed to loan a player, you can…
Let’s just leave the club to sort out what they can. I’m sure they will do everything they can to maximise the squad so try not to get bogged down in reading the fine print of the monopoly rules and just hope we can get in some players to help improve the team.
25 Jul 2024 08:19:31
there's loads of factors, but it's 1000% more than 2 trust me, i've asked people in the past who work in the recruitment game
not sure what the max is, and maybe i'm wrong on the obligation side
but yeah it's more than 2.
why it was slightly frustrating last year seeing us only use 2.
