Onana against West Ham.

Goals: 1
Passing Acc: 97% (1st)
Duels: 15 (1st)
Duels Won: 9 (1st)
Possession Won: 6 (1st)

Crap him.

I expect to see performances like he put in against Arsenal for us, a hell of a lot more frequently for Villa.

Now the lad can actually focus on doing what he does best, which is winning the ball back and distributing it to the more dangerous players in his team. He is now in a side that have a decent manager, a style of play and players that actually move ahead of him and give him options when he wins the ball back.

He will start to make a mockery of the price we let him go for very very quickly and I for one am not looking forward to it.

The only easy part to swallow is that he is at a solid club like Villa and could have gone to somebody a lot worse.

I get what you’re saying BN, but it’s one game, and we didn’t sell him for peanuts, he should be good for £50 million no?

He’s a quality player BlueNose. We could see that in the Euros. He was always going to move on from us and even when his agent tried to get that sorted in January he put her (his sister) in her place and said there’s more important things to get done at Everton.

That was class which is why I’m not bitter that he’s moved on. He’s too good for Dyche ball, as are Everton FC. But that’s what we have now. Life sucks.

I think we got decent money for him at a time when we needed to cash in on someone. There had to be a sacrifice in order for SD to bring in players to strengthen the squad. Maybe now he will give them some game time.

{Ed025's Note - the troubling thing BP is that Dyche never played him that much, he was on the bench quite a bit so he was obviously deemed not good enough to make the Everton team on a regular basis...well done Sean..

There were an awful lot on here happy for us to sell him. Oh and Danjuma scored tonight maybe we should have kept him too.

I was 1 of them he didn't do it on a regular basis for us. i said he has everything you want in a player and that he should be running games but he was to lazy. We can blame SD or the players around him but he didn't do it for me. Hope he proves me wrong because he seems a decent lad and that we have a sell on clause ?and is it true Dobbin has been loaned out to West brom by villa? Something very dodgy with that transfer with him and Tim if you ask me just hope it was legal ???.

That's very true, ed025. On the other hand, there were some games that he was just totally ineffective in too. He was always going to look better in a team that has cohesion and with better players around him. Out of the 3 players we have of high value, he had to go before JB or JP in order for us to bring new faces in. I hope he goes on to have a blinding season or two, move on from Villa to a top tier club fighting for the champs league. That's providing we have a decent sell on clause included in the deal to let him leave.
How long do you think the club will give Dyche, Ed? He's managing the club like he doesn't get a say in transfers in right now. New players that aren't ready for Premier league football? Then why bring them to the club? Young has plenty of experience yet he is just awful!

{Ed025's Note - you make a couple of good points there BP, i think he will stay until his position becomes untenable mate, if we lose games and stay near the bottom of the league i would expect him to be ousted very shortly, if we win a few games and climb the table he will stay until the new owners are appointed and then i suspect he will be replaced anyway..

The measure of SD for me is that we sell one of our best players in Onana £50m and he plays in his preferred position and has a cracking match.
SD couldn't fit him in or build around him, hence he will never progress this club with better players, he will carry on with the players that have constantly failed and really are not good enough.
We are not Burnley, the fans are expecting honest performances and much better than we have been served up of late.
I know its first game, but nothing had changed from last year, we need changes on the pitch, but I don't think he will deliver the performances the fans demand!

He is in the final year of his contract so pay off won't be that high. SD probably has less interest knowing this is his last year. There have been no talks of an extension if you believe the rags.

Thelwell in his last year too I think. I assume the board would be in charge of extensions.
