Think we've covered most things about the game, however, Pickford as definitely at fault for the last goal, caught in no man's land. Defence certainly didn't help him either.
01 Sep 2024 09:19:24
For balance you’d have to say he also kept out a couple of certain goals prior to that Bunks.
01 Sep 2024 09:28:39
No he wasn't. The defence were all over the place, and the lad had already made three good saves. That loss has nothing to do with the keeper.
01 Sep 2024 09:54:28
Very harsh on Pickford! He had no cover last 5 mins and made 3 great saves at 2-2. Comes down to defenders and Dyche not bringing on fresh legs. O’Brien is 6’5” so would’ve been perfect time to put him in but SD knew best (again! )

It also made me realise how much of a passenger Doucoure is when he plays. I could not fault McNeil for wanting the ball, covering the yards and making things happen when he got it.
01 Sep 2024 10:46:18
That's very harsh. He makes 2 magnificent saves in that collapse. I've just watched it again for my sins and the error is unforgivable. It's naive tactics. Either the players ignored the manager and went nuts or they didn't get instructions. We were gung-ho pushing for a 3rd goal.
We are a fan base that remembers D M and Carlo and Rafa. Love loath or indifferent, they all had one thing in common. If we were winning even by a single goal at 70th minute. They shut up shop. 11 behind the ball low block tight lines and striker no further than halfway line. Substitutions were always defensive players replacing midfield players and usually we'd end up with 5 at the back and in effect 5 in midfield. Yesterday We had Myko on the edge of their box with 2 players ahead of him on 2 of their 3 goals playing open football with minutes to go. Why is he up there? We didn't shut up shop or even try. Pathetic this is all on SD. Villa next have a feeling this isn't going to get any better and we need a change and quick. This guys had it.

Have to say, I agree. We had pace on the bench in Lindstom and Dixon that would have pushed Bournemouth back, and defensive options in O’Brien and even Young could have dropped in at right back a and pulled Seamus into a back three. So inept it’s untrue.
{Ed025's Note - listen guys i have not really commented on yesterday as i wanted to revisit the crime scene and watch the game again to avoid a knee jerk reaction, my take on things is that i am more confident of survival than i was before the game because we actually played like a team, first half was good but the second half was very good except for the debacle at 86 minutes and we could and maybe should have been out of sight by then, has this made me a fan of SD?...hell no, but what he has at his disposal now is players that can score and create goals which gives us a decent chance in games, now i know that does not excuse the defeat yesterday but it does give us a fighting chance i believe, yes its a shambolic start but its 3 games in and im stating now that we are going to be alright....and no im not turning into my old friend GB :) COYB..

All very true Ed025 we did play well until the final minutes but we lost the game. Coleman was out injured just over a week ago and played on Tuesday and was spent by the end of the game. We have a healthy, young and fast kid in Dixon on the bench who should have been won at the 70th minute. O'Brien should have been on for Keane at the same time and our most creative player who they had three players around is taken off and the waste of time that is Doucoure is brought on to replace him. This defeat is solely at the hands of SD, mark my words regardless of the talent that you quite rightly say we have in our squad if they are not managed properly you have plenty of savvy managers that will exploit our weaknesses week in week out.
{Ed025's Note - all good points you make Mike and in no way am i giving Dyche a walkover mate, his use of subs had always been a problem but sometimes a manager can be in a no win situation, if he had brought on the likes of Obrien and Dixon and we had lost we would all have been asking why he changed things i suppose...damned if you do damned if you dont, im saying that was an anomaly yesterday and i seen a team that will do ok despite of the manager not because of him...my cup is still half full..

Agree with Ed025 with the one caveat:
that Dyche learns from this.
Not for the first time all the fans saw what the manager couldn't which was they'd brought on fresh legs while we hadn't and it's what cost us the game.
Pickford not to blame for any of the goals, he was caught in no man's land but that was because of lack of defence at the far post. Protecting a lead was Dyche's thing, he needs to get that back.
{Ed025's Note - he has to learn Bunnyman or it will cost him his job mate..
01 Sep 2024 12:26:49
I didn't say he cost us the game and yes he did do his job with some good saves, but he was at fault, along with the defence for the 3rd goal.
01 Sep 2024 12:30:31
Ed025 are you morphing into a GB? All a matter of opinion mate and I hope you are correct and SD morphs into a good manager but IMHO we need a new and younger replacement who can manage games better, uses the best player available and not his favorites, and knows when to bring on substitutes!
{Ed025's Note - im not trying to make excuses for him Mike im just trying to be positive mate, i seen enough out there yesterday to believe we have a fighting chance if the game management is better, im sick of dreading watching us and before the capitulation was grinning like a Cheshire cat, but its last chance saloon now for Sean and i think he knows it..
01 Sep 2024 12:49:08
All fair points. As I said yesterday, we’d all have been waxing lyrical about the performance if it’d stayed at 2-0. Dyche is paid to make the big calls on subs etc, and they were wrong yesterday. Could it have been worse if he’d gone more positive/ more defensive? Well it couldn’t have been much worse could it? The pressure grows again and the club look foolish.
01 Sep 2024 13:17:52
Can’t see us losing that if we made subs mate. Was obvious to anyone watching that the midfield and fullbacks were done and it was the tiredness that killed us. Tim couldn’t run anymore and lost his marker as did mykolenko and Coleman.
01 Sep 2024 13:18:53
Ed while I agree we now have a better squad it is wasted on this clown. Yesterday was a prime example. Tim and Seamus were done and needed replacing and Keane once booked went into full panic mode. We had the players on the bench to sort this out, and yet he takes off our most creative player and throws on Dacoure whose legs are gone.
That is where we lost the game. I was sitting there and all around me were baffled by the decision. We could see we’re the changes needed to be made, why the feck couldn’t he.
{Ed025's Note - as i say Nfm Dyche has to take part of the blame for that result as i agree with you the substitutions were awful, the players have to also take the blame for their part in the fiasco as these are finely tuned athletes and it was down to loss of concentration as much as fitness imo mate..
01 Sep 2024 14:36:18
It was terrible game management Ed. Pure and simple. The defeat lands solely on SD and the manner of the defeat is inexcusable.
{Ed025's Note - his game management was awful Charlie...and not for the first time by the way, but also the players are culpable if you ask me, they bottled it when they got a goal back and have to be a lot better than that mate..
01 Sep 2024 15:29:19
Yes ed but Tim’s played less than 5 games in premier league, gana and Coleman are just back and Keane was on a yellow. Should have been them 3 off around 75 minutes didn’t even need to play dixon could have gone young garner obrien. Terrible decision.
{Ed025's Note - yeah Tranmere he could have, im not making any excuses for him mate but i think the players need to look at themselves as well..
02 Sep 2024 08:13:32
Totally agree Ed.
