Another point and another dull boring game. People saying it's a good result? Are you kidding me. We were bloody awful again, gave away possession constantly. Can't string two passes together. Negative substitutions again.
The football is awful. The tactic is awful, and the manager is awful. But hey we got a point at home so it's a good result.
Stop kidding yourselves, and open your eyes.

Eyes are wide open thanks. My question 1 point crap lucky football or 0 points so-called 'entertaining' football. I go to see my Team win or at least not lose. Let's make that a habit consistently then become more expansive. Point is with this bloke in charge we certainly are not gojng forward.

06 Oct 2024 08:16:03
You certainly don’t go to see your team win mate. And if your happy to watch that crap then good luck to you.

06 Oct 2024 08:29:02
There has to be a happy medium, it was awful. At least go for it at the end and try to take all three points.

06 Oct 2024 09:26:53
Good result and good performance aren't necessarily the same thing.

06 Oct 2024 09:44:06
We rarely get either so I'm not sure what your point is?

For me this whole club is run based on fear. Fear of relegation and fear of administration.

So many other clubs have gone down swinging and come back up the better for it, but since relegation would likely mean the end of us, we play based on the fear of losing and it shows. Yesterday at one point with about 15 minutes to go it looked like all 3 points were there for the taking but the fear of losing kicked in and we retreated.

It's not a case of people kidding themselves at all, I don't think many would be happy with the general performance yesterday. I don't think many would be happy with numerous things about the game such as use of subs, team selection, tactics etc. But us fans go the game hoping to take all 3 points and, if we can't do that, then the next best thing is a point. And that's what happe ed yesterday. Crap game but we got a point, it could have been worse.
Until SD is given his marching orders, this is the tripe we have to endure, I think we all understand that. So, a point is welcome as they all add up at the end of the season and will either keep us up or consign us to the championship. Once the takeover is done our future should be brighter. Until then we just have to suck it up as those in power aren't going to change things up unless we totally implode. Those who are happy to take a point don't need to open their eyes, they are understanding of our predicament and realistic as to what we have to watch week in week out.

Don't go to see my Team win! Stupid comment.

06 Oct 2024 11:31:07
Exactly bluepotato. He sounds like my wife telling me how to drive.

Anyone who travels to a match and doesn't hope his/ her team wins must be a strange type of fan, and I have yet to meet one.

I was grateful for a point last night as I think that if Newcastle were anywhere near their normal level, we’d have lost.

I know the old adage of “lies, damn lies and statistics”, but here are the premier league level opposition’s possession stats at Goodison for this season:

Newcastle 67.9%
Palace 59.9%
Southampton 73.9%
Bournemouth 53.1%
Brighton 61.8%

The only game I think we played well in out of the above was the first 87 minutes against Bournemouth and look how that ended.

Other than that it has been pretty woeful. If you can’t hang onto the ball for 1, how and you 2 make any progress against the opposition?

This is why I think we gas out late in games as we’re chasing the ball all the time and get knackered.

I just hope we can keep nicking points here and there and that Freidkin get shot of this dinosaur in November.

The point being, do we go out for a point from the off, or as pointed out, do we accept a point as we have no confidence we can win. It's no good pointing at each other. We should be pointing in the direction of Dyche. Top managers see points as success and possible trophies. Dyche is where he is because his vision is if you win 10% of games, and draw 50% of games, you get 40 points and avoid relegation. Maybe it should be pointed out to him, there is no point using that system unless you want to be a habitual bottom half team each season. He won’t ever change his style and will be playing the same in 10-15 years. Hopefully the Freidkin group will have made a point there is no point employing him any longer than needed and point him in the direction of the exit door.

You made some interesting 'points' there Nick. . .

06 Oct 2024 17:17:21
Ha ha we’re now at the point were we are grateful for a draw. We really have been brainwashed by baldy.
It was another negative boring performance, but hey we got a draw so well done boys.

06 Oct 2024 17:51:31
I find myself saying this all too often. Dyche creates a crisis to validate his only possible success, which is to survive the crisis he creates. Average is over achieving and survival fill his trophy cabinet.

Sack him now! We can’t do much worse than having no one in charge.

06 Oct 2024 18:50:05
Toffee Ace: You are absolutely on the money mate. It just feels that he is the creator of the problems.

06 Oct 2024 18:54:39
Again, notforme, show us where people are saying 'we got a draw so well done boys'as that's not what I take from this thread.
Nobody goes to the game wanting their team to lose and, if you can't get 3 points then it stands to reason that getting a draw, and ultimately a point, is the next best thing. We are all frustrated by what we have to endure, the only silver lining is that SD won't be here this time next year. Performance yesterday was poor, getting a point was better than getting poked in the eye with a pointy stick. It's not hard to understand really.

06 Oct 2024 19:08:37
Imagine starting off in a new state of the art stadium and serving that type of play up every home game. Only difference is letting another 13k fans watch that sh*te.

06 Oct 2024 21:44:51
He's living on borrowed time, dentielad. If he carries on in the same way then his number is up as soon as we get new owners. It's bad enough that the fans have to fork out hundreds of pounds over the season to watch that style of play, imagine spending hundreds of millions! New owners and new manager I think as soon as the takeover is sorted.

06 Oct 2024 22:11:07
A point is better than nothing at this moment in time. Nothing to celebrate and could have been worse, but equally could have been better. I’m not happy with the performance and ultimately not getting 3 points, but I’m content to not get beaten until January when, hopefully, the new owners have some sort of plan to move forward. Anything less than a defeat is a bonus!
