Good debate BW. Personally I don't think we have a bad squad, we just have managers who are safety first, albeit through fear.

Armstrong and Patterson the other day showed what we can do on that right hand side, although it was against Peterborough, we can attack and create. However, we reverted to type again.

Harrison is a huge problem. He just hugs the touchline and doesn't move. He needs to start coming inside to allow the right back to move forward. Instead he gets the ball and the only option is to pass it back again. He's completely brain dead.

Armstrong came inside and linked up with Patterson, Mangala and Ghana. He's such a better option. Even Jesper is a much better option. There's a player in him but he needs regular minutes which he won't get under these types of managers.

Myko and Ndiaye are working better together but Dwight is the missing link there. With him back Ndiaye can be allowed to be more free.

For me if they don't trust Armstrong and Patterson then they have to 100% get a whole new right hand side because Young and Harrison are pants going forward.

Our central players are actually decent, pick any two out of centre backs I’d personally go obrien and branthwaite, gana and mangala are decent in the centre of the park and Pickford is a top gk.

The problem is we have crap full backs and wingers, we sign two new full backs and two new wingers I believe we’re a different team, most team’s creativity comes from out wide, just look at the red lot. Trent Salah Robertson Diaz, it’s our wide players which are the problem, sort that and we will be fine.

Agree with most of what you said there BR.

Mangala is comfortably a 1st team player imo. Lad is competent at everything but doesn’t necessarily excel in anything. He looks after the ball well and keeps it ticking. He knows his limitations and plays to his strengths, which shouldn’t be rocket science but a lot of players don’t possess this awareness.

Ndiaye is easily our best player and I think would get into some of the top sides in the league and you’d see a drastic improvement in his own performance as a result. He is always calm, never rushed. The problem is that he is seen as the only threat we have by the opposition. They know full well if they stop him, we have nothing else. Just like teams know if they score, they can then sit back and stay solid as we pose zero threat. Ndiaye is a very clever footballer but he has absolutely nobody on the same wave length and he is isolated. I feel tremendously sorry for him.

Beto is raw and limited but I still won’t agree to put him in the same bracket as DCL. You can’t expect anyone to have 10 minute spells and build up and rhythm or confidence. By all means, people can say he isn’t good enough but when he plays he causes teams issues. If you give him the 3 chances DCL had last night, I would favour him to score. We don’t nor have we ever played to his strengths. Everyone expects him to mimic DCL, when he is a completely different type of forward. The rare times we have played him in behind, how he likes it, we see results. Doncaster, Newcastle, West Ham. Even the disallowed goal at Saints which was off by the most annoying margin. He tries his bollocks off, yet somebody who hasn’t scored in 16 games keeps getting on ahead of him because apparently he is integral to how we play. That makes zero sense to me, as we have been terrible for the longest time, so put two and two together. Maybe it’s time to change the way we play.

It was evident that Moyes wants them to get balls into the box quicker so that the defenders are unable to set/ reset. Whilst Beto may not be the answer, he would do a much better job than the other pillock.

Fullbacks need addressing much more than a striker does imo as they are so bad, both defensively and offensively. Next would be a CAM who actually has a modicum of vision. Then it would be a striker. We need 3 signings minimum but I think Moyes will bring some in.

I am not losing my mind about last night like some. Villa are a very good team and have very good players. We didn’t get battered and we had chances to score. Moyes will quickly learn who the sh**houses are and they won’t be playing games. He had little to no time to prepare for Villa and as we know from previous players, the man drills his players into submission. I expect significant improvements.

Beto is garbage and Thelwell should lose his job just for that signing. Add Harrison into that and he has no excuses.

{Ed025's Note - im not a fan either Brass..

DCL has been awful this season but he is still better a better player than beto. Every time he goes forward and runs with the ball, he almost falls over! I get people say he hasn't started enough games but there's an obvious reason for that, he's absolute sh*te. In the cameos he's had he's shown enough to me to suggest we need to get rid and reinvest in someone who can actually play football. BN, the only team he causes issues for is his own. Constantly giving the ball away, always falling over as he runs with the ball etc etc. He does nothing but put us under pressure imo. Maybe I'm missing something and I struggle to remember a worse signing than him in our history. Even Harrison is slightly above him! Two of our worst signings in the clubs history and they are in the same squad, unbelievable.

Depends what you define as a better player mate. I think both are terrible players but one is unequivocally more potent than the other and does their job better than the other.

Don't take my word for it, just look at the stats. Not any of the silly ones, just goals per minute.

This season:

- Beto 3 goals in 448 (149 mins) .
- DCL 2 goals in 1479 (740 mins) .

Last season:

- Beto 5 goals in 1159 (232 mins) .
- DCL 8 goals in 2630 (329 mins) .

When you factor in that Beto is getting his goals in fleeting spells, coming on with minutes to go, unable to build any rhythm within the game and then also with appearances, it makes it even more obvious who the real "better" player is.

People can go on about DCL's all-round play, which I am still yet to see what they mean. Apparently he is integral to how we play, well we play absolute terrible football, so if he is integral to it, perhaps it is time to rip the script up and try something different.

Look their both crap. Does it really matter who’s the crapper? Get rid of both and play Ndiaye up top. I mean it’s not like we ever put crosses in anyway.

We can look at all the stays we want but mate when I go the game I use my own eyes. Just don't see a player in him, certainly not one good enough for this league. NFM is right, they're both crap and need to go. Hopefully the next striker we buy has the ability to score goals regularly, we haven't had that since Rom.

You all make good points which can be argued either way but I personally don't see a team of Premier League standard players, let alone a squad at this stage in their careers

Patterson, Coleman, Young, Mykolenko, Harrison, Lindstrom, Gueye, Doucoure, DCL, Broja and Beto are not warranting their places. That far too many "passengers" for any team/ squad too carry but that was the situation for Dyche and that is the situation for Moyes. "Just who do we replace them with? "

We don't have youngsters coming through - another Threlwell failure and our recent purchases have not been what I would call successful except for Ndiaye and possibly (I'm not convinced) Mangala

What exactly do we need Threlwell for?
