Let's talk about Abdulaye Doucoure and the abuse given to him by some of our so called "fans and supporters" on this site
First of all let's make it clear I think he's gone off the boil a little bit this year and if he was food I'd be checking that his 'best before date' hasn't been passed. He's lost a yard or so in pace so is rushed and, as a result some of his passing is 'safe' and sometimes inaccurate.
But let's also be clear that
It wasn't him that gave him the contract he is on. It was Everton management that proposed it and he accepted it. I think he will be 33 when it expires so not too old, but maybe 12 months too long. We're a business and shouldn't let sentiment get in the way. Same with his wages
It's not his fault that Garner, Tim, O'Neill are all out injured so Dyche and now Moyes have turned to him. You can argue the toss about Harrison Armstrong - he is certainly one for the future but very young to be thrown into a relegation war
What we do get from Doucs is someone with immense pride in being an Everton player, who will work his socks off for US in defense and in attack, and who has, and still will do, scored some really important goals for us
For him to be slagged off the way he is, game in, game, out is totally disrespectful. Sure, call for management to plan for the future and look for a replacement but, quite frankly, he's more of an Evertonian than you lot are proving yourselves to be. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum - Nothing but the Best and we have you?
And please don't give me that crap about we have a right for an opinion. You have - but you also have a duty to be fans - to be supporters, and my opinion is you're not being either
By the way - It's a similar argument for Idrissa and DCL.

I happen to think that Doucoure' does do a job off the ball. Others do not. People do have a right to an opinion. My opinion is your comment is misguided.
21 Jan 2025 08:41:06
Totaly agree bw2412 there are people on this site that will slag players off as as first option without looking at the overall picture. In my opinion if a manager picks a player then they do so for valid reasons and all three of the players you mentioned seem to be picked as starters by last group of managers.

Abuse? Wow. Since when does critiquing a player and his abilities on a football pitch constitute as abuse.
If players are able to be praised, then they are equally able to be called out for being crap. These players are paid an absolute fortune to do a job and as fans, especially paying fans, EVERYBODY is well within their rights to form an opinion.
It is pure delusion on your part to suggest that his inability to pass or retain possession of a football is down to a loss of pace. He never had pace to begin with and he has never been an intelligent footballer. He has always relied on his physicality and particularly his engine (which at one moment in time, was fantastic) . Look at the likes of Gueye on Sunday. Zero pace yet is able to play it round them and keep hold of the ball, dictating the pace of the game because he is a decent football player.
Calling out his performance on Sunday was not abuse, stop being so fragile. People can take or leave stats and I agree that some of the ones that are bandied about in todays game are useless and don't give the overall picture. That being said, when they are there in black and white, serving as proof for claims about giving the ball away or doing little to nothing on the ball offensively, then they simply can't be argued.
No one is calling for young Armstrong to be starting week in week out. What people are pointing out is that Doucoure stayed on the pitch after such a poor display. Surely Armstrong is deserving of a late cameo to show and prove to people that he can make the step up, especially after we saw a snip of what he could do in the Cup, albeit against Peterborough. It is good enough for the likes of City, Arsenal and Liverpool to do this but not us no?
Duty to be fans and supporters? The duty as fans and supporters is to be in full voice during the game and get behind the team to spur them on to victory. You do know that people are capable of doing that and then voicing their opinion on the game afterwards don't you? Reminder - this is a rumours site and despite what you may think, Doucoure won't even know it exists, let alone will he ever go on it.
Abuse? Laughable. Get off your high horse.

You're full of 'it'
Have an opinion of Dacoure all you want but respect the fact he helped us stay up the last 2 seasons and shows more love of Everton and commitment than you ever will. You're too busy feeding your ego.
21 Jan 2025 09:38:56
Pot, kettle BW.
What makes you think that I can't and don't respect the fact he helped us stay up at the same time as calling out his ability to play for us this season. I guess that we should get Graham Stuart back in the middle because of his performance against Wimbledon should we. What a nonsensical comment.
He shows more love of Everton and commitment than I will? So he gets paid close to half a million pounds a month to play for us and as a base minimum, runs around on the pitch and shows effort aka does his job. I pay thousands of pounds a year out of MY own money to go and watch us up and down the country, watching (for the most part) uninspiring football - what an interesting take.
{Ed025's Note - listen guys we cant have people disrespecting others on here as it will just deteriorate into a slanging match, we cant call other people names like idiot or fool or even worse, if you dont like a post then ignore it i would suggest, come on people this is our site so lets be more tolerant and respectful please...cheers..
21 Jan 2025 09:54:48
As long as the respect includes players I'm fine with that Ed.
{Ed025's Note - opinions about players is fine BW we all have out own take on how good or bad they are but we want discussions to be polite and respectful, replies should be the same as if you are talking face to face mate, it about being nice to each other even if you dont agree..
21 Jan 2025 09:55:04
Absolutely Ed.
21 Jan 2025 10:03:45
Fair comment Ed. Apologies for the above posts if any were out of order.
Personally I haven't seen any posters "abuse" players on here. I think given what all of us have had to endure in the past few seasons, everybody is impeccably behaved. There is rarely anything that is personal, no name calling, no comments that are disrespectful on a human level. I have simply seen people give their opinion on performances from professional footballers, at worst people have called a player crap.
Everyone has different opinions, whether they are right or wrong is up for debate and it is football but to be told that holding a certain opinion makes you less or more of a fan is ludicrous and arrogant.
{Ed025's Note - its more about how we speak to each other BN, name calling and derision is not on mate or things can easily fall apart..
21 Jan 2025 10:25:06
I agree BlueNose we all see them (players) as assets or handicaps our perspectives sometimes differ and there is nothing wrong with that it's natural.
Abusing and accusing others is against all the forums protocols, some of which include 'Don't attack, degrade, insult, or belittle other members'
21 Jan 2025 10:35:59
It does turn a bit nasty on here at times and I think we are all guilty of this I think it's just because we have had so many bad times over the past few years. but it's better than being a RED.
21 Jan 2025 10:56:34
I agree Skylark
Obviously Bluenose hasn't been on the live match chat page
Bit is better than being a red.
21 Jan 2025 11:02:05
Sorry but thanking a player for keeping us up. If the player had done his job properly then we wouldn't have been involved in another relegation battle.
Don't need to look at stats to see how poor Dacoure is, just watch him on the pitch. Are things really that bad now that we are expected to praise players who just run around a lot. Dacoure, Harrison, Beto all run around a lot but offer very little. But hey as a supporter we are supposed to praise them, really?
21 Jan 2025 11:55:28
Whether it is praise or criticism towards players is besides the point for me Brass. All a game of opinions but to frame it as abuse is just pure nonsense imo, worse still, to question someone's legitimacy as a fan.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out weaknesses in the squad, wanting to aim higher and improve at any point in time but when you are at the bottom of the league season after season as we have been, it makes it even more reasonable.
21 Jan 2025 12:49:29
Agree BlueNose, abuse is not the right word, more downright frustration of some very poor well paid so called footballers stealing a living mate, of course we can criticise them.
21 Jan 2025 12:55:30
And still he rabbits on trying to justify himself.
21 Jan 2025 13:14:28
Bit like your post mate rabbit rabbit.
21 Jan 2025 13:14:09
Justify myself? What makes you think I feel need to justify myself and certainly to you. As I said before, the arrogance stinks. It must be high up on that horse.
I apologised to Ed for calling you a fool and rightly so.
You cry about disrespect and yet you carry on.
You have not come back with one single rebuttal to any of the points made, just an emotionally-charged splurge of words that have no substance and make no sense.
21 Jan 2025 13:46:57
At least I stay consistent GB instead of you
"Moyes was terrible manager and should never be our manager again to Moyes is the best thing that's ever happened to us"
All you do is chase around for Thumbs Up.
21 Jan 2025 16:08:39
Also said I didn’t want Moyes but I will support whoever manager we have, I happen to think he will be good for us mate, you go your way and I will go mine.
21 Jan 2025 18:34:31
So let me think. You’re just doing what people are asking you to do GB. That’s support whoever is in charge or playing. Just never have an opinion naughty boy.
21 Jan 2025 21:10:28
Wow… that got out of hand quickly.
