Let me start this by saying I'm fine with us only getting the one player in. However, there does seem to be a real lack of preparation in these transfer windows under Thelwell.

This isn't the first window where we don't appear to have a plan in place, spoken to clubs or a strategy in who we are looking for, over potential signings. I do stress appear though.

There are loads of factors to take into consideration but I suppose the biggest one is when we change our managers. Doing it in January, the new manager will have his own targets he would want to be brought in and could be very different from the previous manager. This means any work you've already done is pointless and new work begins on the new priorities the new manager has set and as these things take time.

We've got a good enough squad though to be higher up the table. Before the start of the season I thought mid table was achievable but it was dependant on the then manager to be able to develop and grow himself not just the team. He didn't and we are where we are.

So no big surprise we didn't get many in and I would suspect Thelwell won't be there come the summer anyway. Hopefully, the new person coming in has good contacts and a vision that matches both the club and manager.

I’m of the other thinking that Thelwell has done fairly well for us whilst with us given the constraints of psr, the changing of managers and the meddling owner.

Would like to see him given a chance with proper backing and working with Moyes to build this squad - if he’s as bad as some are making out then how have we won our last 3 games with 7 of his signings playing in those games?

Lindstrom, Ndiaye, o’Brien, Beto, Garner, Gueye and Tarkowski were all great in the last game.

McNeil has been decent, Mangala one of our best players this season before injury, iroegbubam and chermiti got potential.

He’s made some poor signings as well, however I feel those are outweighed by the good ones based on circumstances faced with.

All a matter of opinions as lots of negativity towards him and even more so since window closed and we only signed one player - odd as fans moaning we haven’t bought anyone would be the first ones to moan if we bought duds in.

Need to buy players to improve us not just pad out the squad.

He got us out of the PSR hole, I think Friedkins recognise that.

Thelwell the new scapegoat now dyche has gone and Moyes has got results?

The same guy saved our arses with psr and signed ndiaye when most of us hadn’t heard of him 9/ 10 for me.

I'm not slating Thelwell at all. I don't think he's done a bad job and trying to offer reasons why it is difficult when we change manager. However, we do seem to have an issue when we really need some decisive decisions being made.

Add to it the fact he's had to sell some of our best players to balance the books, Psr and an absent owner, he's done wonders.

However, his contract runs out in the summer and there's no sign of a new one which means the owners probably have someone else in mind.

Either way whoever it is, needs to be in line with the owners and mangers vision.

When Moshiri took over, the owner had his own ideas, the DOF had his and none of them were inline with the manager and we wasted 100's millions. This is a new beginning, I'd prefer it not to be the same as last time.
