I read recently that because of the 8 points we were deducted last season, it cost us 3 positions in the final league table. This in turn cost us 7.2 million pound as every position higher in the league generates 2.4 million. So with var ultimately making mistakes like yesterday, that potentially cost us an additional 2 points and minus a point for utd. This at the end of the season could potentially cost us millions again. I know we are not the only team who suffer from var, but it is not only the time it takes to make decisions, the fact it keeps making wrong decisions, using wrong video angles, it genuinely could be costing clubs millions of pounds. I think it should be scrapped. I can get over a ref making a mistake or a linesman not giving offside as it happens in real time, but to have all the video angles and still take so long and then come up with the wrong outcome is madness. I can't and won't be convinced that it is not corrupt. At the end of the season if utd finish ahead of us by a point, and it costs us 2.4 million, a letter of apology from the pgmol is not suffice. Its time to scrap it once and for all. People say it takes time for the technology to work its been given long enough and simply does not work.

The Clubs voted to keep it.

I know but I don't underatand why. It would be interesting to see if a poll was taken by all premier league managers, who would like to see the back of it, the same with players. And fans, I'd imagine the majority would get rid of it.

{Ed025's Note - well i would vote it out Ray..

{Ed025's Note - spot on Ray ?..

For me it has spoilt the occasion of scoring a goal and celebrating. First thought now after scoring is VAR.
I was in favour of it at the beginning, but now would love to see it scrapped and we just accept refs decisions both good and bad.

I agree it cost us but on the flip side how many goals have been chalked off for off side that weren't given, like it or not but the refs these days would be useless with out VAR.

WTF has intelligence got to do with it. Commonsense is the word I would use.

Let's scrap offsides. Be an interesting experiment ?.

Why can't VAR be run by AI? You would get the correct decision within minutes, and wouldn't have the ref being swayed by some knobhead on looking at the screen.

It was Frank Lampards goal at the WC where it really ramped up the call for it - it was needed . But then it was only to be used for things like that . To stop ridiculous goals being given/ not given . That’s what it should be used for and maybe some dodgy tackles and semi automated offsides, everything else it should be scrapped for as it’s causing way too much grief by getting involved in everything! I’d even give in to giving each team 2 VAR calls like tennis if they genuinely think the ref has got it wrong. But it just to damn involved all the time.

The frustrating thing is the way it is used. Drawing lines for the standing foot should be easy enough and that’s the best way to judge an offside. All this elbow, arms, nose being in front of the attacker just makes a mockery of the offside rule.

In rugby, the TMO can draw something to the ref’s attention. It’s put on the big screen and the ref can request different angles. The ref is in control. They have their microphone on and explain their decision based on the law of the game. It’s simple.

Football seems to misuse it. Decisions are made (sometimes badly) and no reasons given for some decisions where the logic suggests something else. It is just daft. Sometimes they get it right but other times, it is ridiculous.

Where’s the fun in the game when VAR seems to be used by incompetent people to make illogical decisions?
