For reasons that aren't even apparent to me, I've started thinking about players who were the best thing since sliced bread until they weren't. The kind of players of whom it could be said, "he had a promising career behind him". The first two names to mind were Jack Rodwell and Mark Higgins followed by James Vaughan. I would also include Steve Seargeant. Any and all contributions welcome.

Kieran McDowell. He looked like he had something special about him but he just didn't kick on. Not sure how he got on at Birmingham this season.

Joe williams, ryan lesson. Francis Jeffery. Billy Kenny probably the best example of wasting a career. Lad could of been brilliant but chose a different path.
