With the amazing job Davey has done since his return, I wouldn't argue with him retaining any of our current squad.
I know that Young, Keane, Doucoure etc haven't set the stadium alight but I have absolute faith in our managers decisions.
We will need a bigger squad going forward and if current players are resigned on reduced terms then it can only be a benefit.
NSNO UTFT IMWT.
{Ed025's Note - i think you could be in the minority there WT, im all for backing the manager mate but there is faith and there is blind faith, he will succeed or fail on the decisions he makes and keeping hold of players we all know are not good enough will lead to his demise, just my view of course..
17 May 2025 08:17:53
I have similar views, Ed.
{Ed025's Note - i am desperate for DM to succeed GD because that will mean the club is going in the right direction, but i do fear that if we keep hold of some of our under performers and show blind loyalty then we will struggle again mate..
17 May 2025 08:33:09
Agreed mate, I think the dynamics of what everyone expects will change by a considerable degree and with that, old mistakes won't go unnoticed any more Ed .
{Ed025's Note - this is a great chance for us to be reborn as a club GD and i just dont want us to blow it mate..

Would be impossible to replace all the players coming to end of their contracts this summer so unfortunately some decisions will be made that fans won’t be happy with.
Provided start of the season we’re in a stronger position squad wise then I’m sure we’ll be able to get over the likes of Young being offered a new deal - which as far as I’m aware he hasn’t yet agreed to.
Also have a feeling that of the other players with contracts ending that Keane may be offered a new one
Think we need to judge on who comes in not necessarily who stays.
{Ed025's Note - get back to me when we give Jack Harrison a new 5 year deal Dan..???

I want us to be a top half team next season and when I see what Forest have achieved I don’t think that’s too much to expect. Unless of course we bottle it and show faith in players who aren’t good enough.
There’s a reason why as late as a month before their deals expire, why they haven’t already had their contracts extended. Having said that, one or two having a short extension to provide backup if needed? Reluctantly accept.

I think that's an unfair expectation and not helpful to the clubs recovery. We all hope for a top 4 challenge obviously but to casually expect it is unfair on the clubs path and means an element of unrealistic fandom is another problem when it should be a united journey. Also DM is judged on results and points and if his players don't perform then he's toasty but if his players do perform and some of those players are ones we don't like, well that sounds like our problems not his. Looks like the problem here is the same as when FM came, people want a total flip in 1 window. It will not happen and we need to lay off for 4 windows before we can start making noises of discontent. Deja vu already right?

Mmm? Think I remember people saying this about quite a few previous managers.
Fact is many of these players have had four/ five year contracts, and during that time all they have achieved is just about keeping us in the Premiership.
So resigning them even on reduced wages is not in my view moving the club forward.
Let's be honest out of the three loan players we brought in are any really worth keeping?
I only hope our new owners are looking to be more ambitious than some of our fans, who to be fair have had so much crap thrown at them over these past few years that they are starting to get use to the taste.
17 May 2025 11:06:52
I see this as an opportunity to get several underperforming highly paid players off the books, which is something most of us have wanted for a couple of years and the chance do do so must not be wasted. Fortune favours the brave.

I don't think people are grasping the fact we cannot just let 12 players leave and replace them, we need to let some go, bring in more hopefully better and each window replace new for old, I don't care what people think the club aren't stupid, we will keep half of the players on the end of there deals and we will add better to it, no point moaning about it, it is what it is.
17 May 2025 12:40:38
So we’re not entitled to have an opinion then?
{Ed025's Note - everyone is entitled to an opinion BMD..
17 May 2025 13:10:37
Being opinionated is a fans prerogative to be derogative and or appreciative that is in my opinion lol.
17 May 2025 13:26:11
Of course we will have to retain some players, but to retain the worst offenders ( and we all no who they are ) would be a huge mistake. I wouldn't want to have the start of what should be a bright new era tarnished by the displays of the same players who are way beyond their best. It won't be easy, but I think Moyes in particular and Kinnear will need to be bold in their approach to build a side to grace our new home.
{Ed025's Note - im with you Shropshire..
17 May 2025 14:53:28
The only players I want to see us sign this transfer window are players who will likely be starters, not squad players. If that means keeping some of the players we ideally would like to leave, as back up, then I am ok with this, so long as the longer term plan is in place to get rid and improve our squad.
17 May 2025 15:21:59
If we keep any of them, I would want Gueye and Alcaraz. At a push, I’d keep Dom if he can stay fit and score some goals, Coleman and one of the keepers.
The rest I’m not fussed with. Would rather see us sign some hungry players looking to make a name for themselves.

David Moyes is a different animal to all of them previous managers. He simply won't them players do that again. He's already told them numerous times through his press conferences what he expects from Everton players and if they don't achieve his level they will go. He did last time and he did it at every stage of his career.
