If the wages and contract are sensible then Stones is a no-brainer. He is streets ahead in terms of quality, experience at a winning club.
P. Neville bought that same mentality when he came from Utd.
Can play RB, CB and CM.

In an ideal world, maybe, but how many games has he missed over the last two seasons through injury? Given that, and the fact he is getting close to the end of his career, I reckon there must be better deals out there for us to pursue.

He's had 4 different injuries this season that has kept him out for 6 months including his most recent hamstring injury.
It's a no brainer to stay 100 miles away.

If the right conditions agreed he could easily be the next Barry.

We have to stop buying players whose careers are on a down turn. As they get older the injuries last longer. Stones in his prime was a great defender, he’s no longer in his prime.

Hard no for me sorry.

He's definitely not the next Barry. In fact I'd take Barry over him now! I think he's still playing!

You do realise the level he has been playing to us over past 6yrs+.

So you'd put him in the team over Jarrad, Tarks or Obrein? Or pay him way over 100k a week to sit on the bench or the injury table? Aren't we trying to get away from this type of situation. DCL has played more games than him!
We've got some money and it needs to be an investment rather than simply burning it away.

Think he’s spent the last few of those six years injured or on the bench.

I get what Bunkbeds is saying, yet when he said ''level he has been playing'' there was a bit of a red flag and the term 'past tense' came up.
Plus BlueJohn more or less just wrapped it up anyway for me.

Signing older players, on big money, on long term contracts, is exactly how we got into our present mess.
I don't think TFG, are daft enough to go down that path, but we will have to see, how much they listen to Moyes, or seek wiser council.

Never once mentioned a long contract or silly wages, I said if it was a sensible financial deal. He covers rb, cb and cm. So yeah I'd take him on a short term deal.
