Ange gone.

Crazy isn’t it? Wins them a trophy and they sack him yet Amorim stays at Utd!
I’d have thought they would back him to improve the squad but now they are rolling the dice before a big season that’s coming up for them.

I’m not surprised at all by this. He was a stubborn manager who would not adapt even when his team was being roundly beaten every week. Beat a very poor team to win a trophy.
Not sure how the Spurs fans felt about him but that kind of stubborn mindset wouldn’t have gone down well with our fans.
If I have one surprise, it’s that he lasted that long.

Yep Thomas Frank no 1 to replace him.

Fully expected him to go. Strings of unacceptable performances. An absolute misery in a press conference. Thanking their lucky stars that they scraped into Europe. Whilst Frank looks the obvious choice, it’s a very different job than the one he’d needs to do at Spurs.

Not comparable to Amorin at all. 1 has over 2 years and other than injuries, was in charge of "his team" the other has 6 months and barely a player on the books he likes. I'd think this is as much a personality issue than a performance one. Levy wouldn't have liked him and his demeanor. Definitely one of those log jams that will help get things moving with managerial merry go round and players who were happy now wanting a move. If Frank gets it then I fear for Brentford.

What I find confusing is the timeline - why not sack him in May and not a week into the window? They now need to go through finding a new manager and it’s going to unsettle the squad when it should be building towards the new season. Why not after the cup? If it was that bad, why not earlier in the season?

Maybe Utd simply can’t afford to sack him?
