Ake would be a brilliant signing. Much better defender than anyone on our books and can cover LB.

Have to say i agree ed. Branthwaite by far better and personally I put tarks ahead too. Would make him 3rd or actually 4th choice. Should be spending our time on the other more needed positions. Rw and rb for a start (lb comes next for me alongside a good cm maybe) .

Another left footed CB would be very welcome though, we need a squad and not just a first 11 as we found out on Monday.

Only problem i have with this potential deal is his injury record, he's had a few since he's been at city.

I don't think he is a better player than JB Ed but I think he is a better defender.
He would open options to play a back 3 with decent balance as well.
I think he is head an shoulders above Tark. I think Tark is seriously overrated. Does the ugly stuff great but decision making and positional sense, he is an average centre back.
{Ed025's Note - its all down to opinions i suppose BN, personally i dont think Ake is the greatest defender mate and think his best position is as DM, of course i would take him all day but think we have other priorities myself..

Can we just get a player who plays in one position very well, rather than a player who can cover many positions at a push. You can't build a balanced team if you are constantly moving players around to fill gaps.
It showed on Monday with O'Brien, when Leeds were attacking down there right he drifted into the centre leaving the left side wide open. Not really his fault as his natural instinct is to protect the box. A proper right back would be tracking his wide man and not leaving those gaps.
Get a proper right back, right winger and stop using midfielders and centre halves to fill the gaps.

Absolutely Ed. Definitely have priorities ahead of him and plenty of them but if we can get him in, I would be happy.
Great shout with the DM. We certainly need one of them too.
I actually think he is a great defender. He is calm, he is great in the air, his positional awareness is second-to-none, he reads play nearly as well as a top midfielder, he is very good in 1v1situations, he stays on his feet 90% of the time an he can break the lines with a decent passing range. When he plays a full season, he usually ends up on a couple of goals and couple of assists as well.
{Ed025's Note - as i say BN i like the lad and he would certainly be an asset if we could get him, the down side is that he is probably on very high wages at City and we were supposed to be getting away from all that mate..

Missed 37 games last season.
