Everton to end their sponsorship with sportpesa at the end of the season.
Cue a big sponsorship deal from uncle Alisher.

Think you could be right matey.

16 Feb 2020 21:41:38
I am pretty sure Smitt is right.

16 Feb 2020 22:05:02
Would a big sponsor shirt deal from usmanov go towards solving our ffp problems or are they already beyond being helped.

16 Feb 2020 23:52:09
Would be no surprise to see megafon on the kits next season.
Whoever we end up with as shirt sponsors hopefully we don’t end up with another gambling company.

Everton will have to tread very carefully in regards to any of Alisher Usmanovs companies sponsoring stadiums, shirts etc, Moshiri is clearly linked to Usmanov, any sponsorship deals will have to be proven to be legitmaly worth the companies investment, in terms of the stadium sponsorship, there will need to be proof that there were multiple bidders for the naming rights, and not just one bid of a multi-year multi-million pound contract.

17 Feb 2020 06:56:26
There doesn't need to be proof of multiple bidders for naming rights. If only one company made an offer then that's what you would have to accept else be without a sponsor.
We may need to prove that it is in the realms of correct value, that the deal isn't (x) amount more than realistic offers should be, but amount of bidders doesn't really come into it.

Well Chevrolet pay Utd around 65m, and we were getting less than 10 from Sports Pesa. So I would imagine there is a lot of scope for improvement.

17 Feb 2020 18:30:52
There’s a large discrepancy between top six sponsorship deals and 7th down. So if Usm or Megafon come in with a top six sized offer it will look suspect. If a company unrelated to Everton offer a similar amount then there’s no real concerns. Occam’s razor, if it looks dodgey then it probably is.

17 Feb 2020 19:53:17
And if we finish above united this season and get a bigger sponsorship deal will that be ok?
The size of the deal isn't decided by league position. Every team starts the season outside the top 6.

When you look at these figures you can see it’s not just the Sponsor it’s also what the kit manufacturer will pay!

10) Juventus - €93m per year (€51m from Adidas, €42m from Jeep)
9) Liverpool - €98.5m per year (€52.1m from New Balance, €46.3m from Standard Chartered)
8) Arsenal - €104.2m per year (€57.9 from Adidas, €46.3 from Emirates)
7) Bayern Munich - €106m per year (€66m from Adidas, €40m from T-Mobile)
6) Chelsea - €115.8m per year (€69.5m from Nike, €46.3m from Yokohama)
5) Manchester City - €127.4m per year (€75.3m from Puma, €52.1m from Etihad)
4) Paris Saint-Germain - €135m per year (€75m from Nike, €60m from Accor Live Limitless)
3) Barcelona - €160m per year (€105m from Nike, €55m from Rakuten)

The point is Smit, USM can’t throw money at us without it being looked at. But if a completely independent investor were to offer the same, then that would make the offer look more credible. The top six clubs have all had champ league history. We haven’t. That puts them in a bigger bidding pool than us. So if USM were to offer us money like we had some sort of champs league attraction when in all honesty we don’t, then like it or not, it looks suss.

{Ed002's Note - There has to be a reason for the investment - you cannot simply hand money over. The money for the option of naming rights will be looked at - and it would not be a shock to see perhaps a small percentage of it being counted for FFP.}

17 Feb 2020 23:52:14
The reason is we need uncle Usmanovs money to help us compete, the big boys have filled their boots and now the ladder has been removed to stop any other team trying to compete with them.

If the top teams can get over a hundred million on combined sponsorships all it is doing is making the gap even harder to close.

I think 30 Million a year is a fair amount to have Megafon on our shirts.

{Ed002's Note - Everton are working well outside of the rules and within a year or two will be charged. The are a light year away from meeting UEFA FFP.}

Spurs have been in the top 6 for the last 10 years and have only just signed a bumper shirt deal, and it's still way short of some of the big teams.

Don't expect ours to rocket just because we break into the top 6. Top 6 just won't cut it, it's winning things that gets the big sponsors in.

20 Feb 2020 19:20:36
All this sponsorship is just the start, once we are in that stadium then the sponsorship money will increase as there is more commercial scope, don’t forget that this stadium is starting a bigger project, we do have to tread carefully with FFP which is why our squad budget is a mess.
