{Ed002's Note - Everton are hovering around FFP issues and need to reduce the wage bill and utilise the cheaper or free options available to them (like Begovich, Townsend and Gray this past summer) and face work to extend contracts of some of the 8 who will out contract in the summer. They had a huge James Rodriguez issue that has now been resolved and 10 players aged 30 or more in the squad. Money will be very tight after a £140M loss last season. Mosiri continues to supplement the club up to the FFP limit but they will be structured as loans and have been partially used to reduce debt - which is a good thing. Clubs do not typically plan for January transfers and Everton would need to sell to do anyhing significant. There may be a glance in the direction of Ross Barkley who may well be available on loan.

what players out of the 8 will they be working on extensions for?
guessing Ellis simms is one whose just penned fresh terms
Begovic has a 1 year option
past that the only extensions club will be looking at you'd imagine will be from the u23's
first team players, Delph, Sigurdsson, Kenny, Tosun, Lonergan
none of the above you'd imagine will be getting extensions on current deals, only one with any chance slightly may be Delph.
Branthwaites deal runs until 2023, despite what transfermarkt say.

We have no loans in at the moment so I wouldn’t be surprised if we looked at the loan market or loan to buy given our financial situation. Only thing is how often have we had loan players that are great on loan, but then pretty lacklustre when they earn the move.

According to a quick Google (by no means saying this is accruate) current contracts due to end this year:
-sigurdsson - guess no action on that one.
- tosun - he can go.
- delph - personally wouldn't mind resigning but on a lower salary if that were possible. He no way deserves the money he is on at the minute.
- Kenny- would imagine he will be gone
- Braithwaite- hopefully can sort this out
- lonergan - with begovic I guess we would let this go
These players alone add up to about 270k a week - again according to online reports. Are any of these really going to be a big miss? Obviously I understand we may need to bring people in to replace them in the squad. Hopefully we can upgrade a few of them at the same time.
