£35 million being banded about as our transfer budget this January, where do they get this from.

Agree8 Disagree0

Probably on the assumption that we will be selling players worth 35 million pounds which is highly unlikely.

23 Nov 2021 22:32:12
From numpties willing to progress the rumour, best guess.

I thought it was -£35m. in that we need to make 35m to stay within ffp. Anyone else starting to wonder about DCL? An injury that initially seemed minor is going on and on and the return date is vague at best - is he coming back from injury plus they don't want to risk him ahead of a big sale in January?

24 Nov 2021 16:41:25
None of you lot have a clue how ffp works do you ?.

24 Nov 2021 19:26:05
Ooh if only we were as wise as you mate?.

Exactly how deep in the doodoo are Everton?
Ed002 please jump in if anything I say is inaccurate as I don’t profess to be an expert in this
In the year ending 30th June 2018 they reported a profit of 13m
For 2019 they reported losses of £112 m
For 2020 they reported losses of £140 m but they attributed £67m of this to C.V.
As well as possibly excluding the C.V. losses they are also allowed to reduce the figures by the costs of the academy, ladies football and any new ground costs. They do not show these separately in the accounts so I do not know what the figures are or how the EPL validates them
For the rolling 3 years the loss was £184 if they can exclude C.V. – well over the limit set by the Premier League but again, I re-iterate I don’t know the costs of the academy, ladies football and the new stadium. Maybe all of these bring us in line with the limits but why we are not already having penalties set against us I don’t know – perhaps ED002 can enlighten us on this
The accounts for year ending 30th June 2021 will come out around December this year. If 2020 is anything to go by the 3 year losses could be 112 + 73 + maybe another 73 which gives us £258m as we lose the small profit made in 2017/ 18 and replace it with a loss similar to 2019/ 20 – an increase of 74 over the previous 3 year period (not including adjustments)
Is the 73m for 2021 a reasonable guess?
It might be more as we will have a full year of James salary (he wasn’t with us in the year ending 30/ 06/ 19
Same with Allan, Doucoure, Godfrey, together with the amortisation of their transfer fees over their contract period
We have the additional wages for the new contracts that we have given Richarlison, DCL, Digne, Keane and anybody else
Partially (in my opinion) offsetting this would be the wages saved by the likes Scheiderlin, Niasse, Ramirez and Walcott leaving the club although I guess we made losses on the actual transfer fee.
There are certainly a whole heap of other pluses and minuses that I don’t have knowledge of but a rolling loss over 3 year of something of the order of £258 m is certainly feasible in my opinion
What the Premier League does faced with these figures is anybody’s guess
Selling James when we did will not, in my opinion affect the 2021 number as it was done after the 30th June 2021. It will help 2022 but it might be too little too late
IT IS TOO LATE TO ALTER THE 2020/ 21 FIGURES. The books are closed and with the auditors for verification
Selling players now won’t show up until the accounts are published for the year the sale took place
The wages of players who’s contracts end next June = THE REDUCTION IN WAGES WON’T SHOW IN THE ACCOUNTS until 2022/ 23.

{Ed002's Note - As of the end of 19/20 Everton are £409m in debt, mainly to the owner. Mosiri continues to supplement the club up to the FFP limit but they will be structured as loans and have been partially used to reduce debt - which is a good thing. Wages are a significant proble for the club. It will get worse before it improves.

The spending on infrastructure (e.g. the stadium) are excluded from the FFP accounts. The three years rolling FFP period has been reduced temporarily to two years to help clubs out because of the pandemic.}

GB just google it mate. Have a good read and then you will be a wiser man.

25 Nov 2021 10:43:49
Thanks ED

What's the permitted losses over 2 years?

{Ed002's Note - The same as three years. But this is temporary.}

25 Nov 2021 11:28:01
Sorry ED

Is that 65m, 105m or something else

I've seen mentions of the 65 and the 105 but not sure whic, if anything is right

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - They are the different Premier League and UEFA figures.}

25 Nov 2021 12:41:50
{Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to the detail but in simple terms the Premier League allow for losses of £45M over a rolling three years (temporarily two years because of the pandemic) and for losses of £105M over the same period if the owners put in money to sustain the club.}

Thanks Ed. I really appreciate your input

Does the Newcastle buy out change the EPL's stance on enforcement. It looks like they declared an unofficial amnesty last year several clubs, of which we were one of the most vocal were against the Saudo buyout

Do you think the EPL are now more likely to now enforce FFP to send a signal to everyone

I know it will only be your opinion but I'd be interested to hear it.

{Ed002's Note - The English authorities have been enforcing FFP and have been punishing clubs who have breached the rules with points deductions, e.g. Sheffield Wednesday, Derby Count and probably soon Reading. Aston Villa remain on the naughty step over their sale of the stadium, and other clubs have significant issues (such as Everton).}

26 Nov 2021 11:38:26
That's what I fear ED

Many thanks for your input.

29 Nov 2021 16:02:23
We'll have 35 million because we'll sell Iwobi for the price we paid, easy!

{Ed025's Note - we need you as our DOF tomtom..
