Formal contract apparently been offered to Tarkowski. Might be waiting a week or two on a response as he is on holiday but we look to be frontrunners as Villa have signed Diego Carlos instead

Good start if he accepts.

Supposedly 90k a week, no thanks. he's what, 29, 90k a week, its signings like this that got us into the mess were in. Overpaying average players, with no chance of being able to sell on. Next season will be harder than last. We have so many players out of contract, a few who will want to leave or we have to sell, and we also have to stop spending to help with the financial ness we are in. We will be losing, what 10 players, there is no way we will sign 10 players so the squad will be smaller than last season. Staying up and getting finances sorted is the best we should hope for. The club is a mess and we need to strip it all back, start again, and stop paying silly wages for average players.

The only thing we should be bothered about when signing a player is whether he improves the squad or not. If he’s bang average, don’t sign him. His wages shouldn’t even come in to it. We are in this mess because we have signed players who aren’t good enough! Yes their wages don’t justify their performance, hence the problems with ffp etc, but if we had spent the money we had and were playing champions league football then we would not be in a financial mess no? The issue is the quality of player.

As for £90k a week for him…… he’d be coming on a free. I would imagine a 3 year contract which works out at £15m for a player for 3 years including his wages. If he improves the squad, then that is as much of a no brained that you’ll ever see. Put the bean counter away.

Dane - whatever wage he’s offered would be high as he’s a free transfer.

I’m no expert but with our financial predicament I’d imagine that wage would be taking into consideration a signing on fee he would want so we’re not paying a lump sum as a signing on fee.

Tosun was on £80k per week so now he’s gone that money is available and surely better to put that money towards a player in a position we actually need cover in and also one that has suffered few injuries in his career.

For me it’s a no brainer.

We need players prepared to give their all, I think if Frank can get three or four young hungry players iwho actually want to play for us we will have the makings of a good solid Team starting with Gordon, Myko, Braithwaite and then we can climb out of this mess.

He might end up being decent but we are in our position because we sign players from relegated clubs. If they take a club down they are not good enough so why do we buy them?

Rlc - are you seriously suggesting that Tarkowski single-handedly took Burnley down?

It’s a team game, if a team goes down it’s not because of one player it’s a collective issue.

We nearly went down - wasn’t because of one individual player it was the whole team at fault. If we had gone down you suggesting none of our players would be bought by premier league teams?

There are plenty of decent players who get relegated.
