Wow price quoted for DCL now £38 million would want twice that for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quoted?
So are you saying someone at Everton have said that that’s the price we’re willing to accept?

07 Jun 2022 19:42:20
Apparently that’s the market price mate.

38 mill would be about right in my view. I would hate to lose Richarlison but he played his socks off for us and our hardest worker. FFP will control how we do in the market this window, sell before we buy and buyers have the upper hand.

Market price?
Again where has this been seen or reported?
From what the telegraph is saying we’ve put a fee of £50m on him.

I just can't see why our fans value him so highly. 38mil is a very good price imo. Must be blue tinted specs. Played well for half a season, since then he has been, at best, average.

A couple of months there were people on here comparing him to Rondon. Now people saying he's worth 60+million.

He's good with his head and with tap ins. Passing, dribbling, shooting all really really poor.

If you solely base his value on the season just finished then May think £38m was a good price, however it’s a bit crazy to do that.

So let’s just do a comparison to a striker that was sold in league recently and plays the target man role like him - Chris Wood.

Newcastle paid £25m for him with 17 months left on his contract at Burnley.

Calvert lewin currently has 3yrs left on contract with us.

Season just gone Wood scored 5 goals in 34 games, Calvert Lewin scored 5 goals in 17 games.

Previous season Wood scored 12 goals in 33 games, Calvert lewin scored 16 goals in 33 games.

Chris wood is 5yrs older and seems to be regressing based on recent stats. Calvert lewin is still learning and improving.

Calvert lewin also an England international which for some reason brings its own premium.

If fans happy to accept less than £40m for him then I think that’s madness.

He genuinely has the potential to be a top class striker.

Dan, that is perfectly fine but wood was bought by Newcastle, who will just throw money at this and over pay for players.

No wonder Burnley bit their hands off for 25 mil for a donkey. Wood is a poor man's Brett Angell.

If mane is only going for 40ish then we'd have to expect similar for dcl.

OK he's younger and got longer on his contract but clubs know we need money.

Geoff - it’s Newcastle who are supposedly interested in DCL so if as you say will throw money at this and overpay for players why would you think less than £40m would be ok?

To also compare to Mane is not realistic. Mane is a great player and I for one think Liverpool will severely miss him. However he has 1 year left on contract and is 30. DCL has 3yrs on contract, is 25 and also has the fabled English premium.
