Was reading that hope we get him mate.

Hope we don't!

Me too GuernseyBlue I think he could be a very good signing.

Here we go….

Why not Birk?
9 goals and 1 assist in 26 games appears to be better than any of our players managed last season.
Also less than £20m.
Surely he’d be a good signing?

Good player exactly what we need.

We’re linked with the world and his wife and we really don’t know who exactly Frank is targeting, some of the rumoured players would certainly improve the team but a lot including Cornet fall into the scattergun/ desperation category.
Tarkowski will prove a very good addition and add much needed steel to the central defence but a quality defensive midfield player is a priority.
It’s very probable that our hands are tied until we shift the likes of Allan, Gomes and one or two of the centre backs before we can commit to buying quality players that fit the system and style of play Frank would like to employ.
In the mean time let’s not make the same mistakes that have been made over the last four to five years and pay over the odds for average players on very high salaries and long contracts.
I appreciate we all have personal preferences on who the club should sign but hopefully Dele, Patterson and possibly Gbamin will come good and offer us another dimension, certainly from what being shown of the training in the US the squad will be substantially fitter.
If I was to choose between the rumoured Cornet at £20m and Traore at £10m, I would opt for Traore, who is a beast with pace to burn and although his final ball needs greatly improving, under the right coaching the rough edges could be sorted out. Only last transfer window Wolves were looking for £50m from Spurs for him.
Also, he has the physique to play central striker if DCL is injured so would offer much more versatility than Cornet, just my opinion.

As you say Fancy all about opinions.

Traore has played 160 games in the league and has only managed 8 goals - I’m not sure any amount of coaching will see that greatly improve.

Cornet on the other hand has played 26 games in the league and has managed 9 goals - I’m sure with more games in the league these figures will only get better.

If was a choice between the 2 it would be Cornet all day long for me.

Traore strong and fast but no end product.

Cornet fast, versatile and has an end product.

Isn’t Cornet primarily a left winger? If so, sounds exactly like our old transfer policy…

We are short on the right wing (Townsend and Iwobi; one coming back from a ACL injury and the other hot and cold - mainly cold - most the time) , CF (just Dom and Rondon; injury prone and, well, Rondon) and CM (Allen and Gomez seem out of form) .

I’m hoping some of the youth and those you mentioned Fancy can step up otherwise we are in for a long season of frustration again.

At least Tarks will sure up the defence. Good bit of business that! Now for some more of that….

Good player, and a bargain but it if we keep messing around with the payment structure at 17 million etc it will just just leave the door open for another club to come up with the full payment while we're dithering!

16 Jul 2022 12:40:45
Not criticising but interested! Why is Cornet exactly what we need.

16 Jul 2022 19:01:20
DFS wouldn’t say he’s exactly what we need.

Think Tarkowski was the most important signing as defence was poor last season and he’ll improve that for us.

However in relation to Cornet - we struggled for goals last season, with only Richarlison getting double figures (11) . Next was Townsend on 7 and Gray on 6.

Now with Richarlison gone we need to get more goals elsewhere, I’m sure DCL will do well if injury free.

If we sign Cornet he may help with getting more goals, he managed 9 in 26 games for Burnley in first season in the league. I’m sure he could get double figures in a full season and for the reported £17.5m seems a bargain for a player who is proven in league and could easily get 10 goals + per season.

He’s not exactly what we need but I feel would be foolish not to try and sign him with what I’ve mentioned above.

Thought he was primarily a LB or LM but if the Club see his potential doing a Ricky down the left hey ho! Still think RW, RWB more key.

For me, if we have the funds, I would like to see both traore and cornet at the club, cornet for me is the better option as he's goal scoring record is better and also better than any player of ours last season.
With traore, I would love him to be an impact player, someone who comes off the bench and really messed with the opposition. His final end product isn't there, and it never will be. We need to know that when he comes, he's going to mess up, ALOT. But he's an impact player and makes the opposition think differently. Which is an amazing player to have in your armoury. If we could only buy one, cornet is my choice, but I would love to see both with us. One a primeraly a left winger, and one primeraly and right winger. Perfect!
If we can get traore for £10m and cornet for £17m, that would be some unbelievable bit of business!
Football is not just about the quality you have in all areas, or we may as well say congrats to man city now. But it's about making the opposition second guess. And with players like traore, that's exactly what we get.
If we get both these players I would be excited for the upcoming season.
