So I am confused, we have two players on loan but so many reports state we are looking at various strikers on a loan to buy basis

I thought loans was only two
Or is that only two from premier league clubs?

Or are the reporters writing rubbish and it’s just click?

{Ed002's Note - The rules are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

FIFA are introducing a cap on the number of players over 21 who can be loaned in and out of clubs. This will initially only cover international transactions but the national associations have to fall in line by 2025 (by which time it will have been refined no doubt). Players under 21 and all club trained players will be exempt from this. For 22/23 clubs are limited to a maximum of 8 in and out International loan signings, 7 for the season after and 6 for the following years. There are a lot of objections to this proposal.

The other noticable change is that loans will be capped at two windows now.

From that it’s 2 as it clearly states that in the first.

Sorry Ed…. My confusion comes from the Prem site : :Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2022/ 23 (Download PDF, size: 8MB) , there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/ English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable.

Why mention “other prem clubs” if it’s just a blanket x2. This indicates that outside the prem more is permissible, do you not agree?

Btw… I’m not saying you are wrong!

{Ed002's Note - A club can only loan one player from another PL club.}

But we have 2 from the same club (Wolves)

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Didn’t realised that had changed for this season as well Ed, just the one now! . Cheers.

Vinagre's parent club is Sporting Lisbon.

So these journalists reporting we are looking to sign reported strikers on a loan to buy are clearly chatting a load of rubbish then as we have two loans

Unless we are looking to suddenly make one permanent which would seem a stretch ??‍♂️.

Change the record lads!

Agree JB, just stupid media not checking stories before they put them out. Just another headline, what do they care.

Ed2, just ine further question.

'there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/ English clubs'

The rules you quote come under this section and this clearly states between English clubs. The section after states international loans have different rules.

I obviously bow to your greater knowledge but in my eyes this inplies we can only Loan 2 players from English clubs but possibly more from abroad.

I think we are all just praying we can get another midfielder and a striker or 2 in, either on loan to buy or just buy depending on finances.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the FIFA proposals.}

12 Aug 2022 13:31:31
Hi Ed, so this loan scenario, Spuds have Romero kulusevski and Lenglet on loan and all 3 played last weekend, how does that fit into this when you can only loan two players?

Sorry not sorry for not changing the record.

{Ed002's Note - Two are with an obligation to buy. I have explained the FIFA loan rules.}

12 Aug 2022 13:51:44
Thanks Ed, so the obligation piece makes the difference
If memory serves our two loans are option to buys so we can only register two of those?

So we could loan another player if it’s with an obligation to buy, would that be correct?

{Ed002's Note - Obligations are very different to Options. The revised FIFA rules will change a lot.}

Appreciate the clarification Ed cleared it all up for me.
