Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager! Well, fair play to him, despite all of the criticism he recieved, he still did a really great job for me. especially when you think about where England were when he first took over and where they are now. The way in which he changed the culture within the dressing room and the way in which he constantly promoted the young players into the squad deserves much praise and applause ? He tried his best, but only just fell short at the last hurdle. Good luck to him, and good luck to his successor. only hope the FA have the balls to make a bold move for Pep Guadiano as I think he is the only one who could turn this young talented team of players into tournament winners. Unlikely though I think, Eddie Howe probably will be the choice.
{Ed025's Note - i have read that Sean Dyche is in the frame Elvis..
16 Jul 2024 11:25:12
Klopp.
16 Jul 2024 11:44:33
Potter I reckon.
16 Jul 2024 12:04:31
Really Ed…Dyche in the frame? So we might end up with Southgate then ?.
{Ed025's Note - lets bloody hope not Elvis.. :)
16 Jul 2024 12:09:42
That would be typical Everton to appoint Southgate!
16 Jul 2024 12:29:14
Sean not going anywhere.
{Ed002's Note - Well, at least not to England.}
16 Jul 2024 12:54:34
More chance Elvis turning up and getting the job than dyche.
16 Jul 2024 12:55:19
Can't see the FA entertaining Dyche if the plan is to play more attracvtive, progressive football with young players. Potter makes sense. Lee Carsley would also make sense as that's the model they've been peddling for the last 12 years.
{Ed002's Note - I would expect The FA to ask Newcastle for permission to talki with Howe in the first instance.}
16 Jul 2024 13:22:51
No chance it’ll be Sean. I would love Carsley to get it.
16 Jul 2024 14:01:13
I can see Eddie Howe in the role. Popular, good with the media, sets teams up to play attacking football. Maybe he could get Trippier to take a decent free kick or corner.
16 Jul 2024 16:33:50
I'd swap SD 4 GS all day long. LEE C should get it as that's the structure but this is England and we'll make a mess of it and go for a hotshot. Expect all the big dogs to turn it down. Give LC the nations league as trials. But common sense is in short supply.
16 Jul 2024 17:24:09
Really FBS? Really…?
16 Jul 2024 18:25:18
& what exactly you basing your swap opinion on FBS? Southgate did nothing at Middlesbrough, spent last 8 years with the best talent in the country and not had to manage daily nor under circumstances Dyche as had to endure.
16 Jul 2024 18:55:14
Howe if he wants it. Otherwise Potter.
16 Jul 2024 19:05:25
It be carsley I reckon.
16 Jul 2024 20:14:17
Graham potter imo. Purely as he is available and not tied into a long contract like Howe.
Wouldn't be opposed to Carsley, doubt he gets a look in tho.
16 Jul 2024 20:19:29
Dunno mocker southgate come from under 21 and look spain there manager only managed spain youth.
16 Jul 2024 22:33:05
Ed you made a comment gone unnoticed, Sean at least not to England. Are you expecting Dyche to be moved on?
{Ed025's Note - i really dont know BT but i think he probably deserves a chance to see if he can elevate this team in the near future, if things dont go well early doors though i can see him being replaced to be honest, these new owners will want to see results and with the investment put in who can blame them?, if things dont go well by Christmas I can see a Santa syndrome and him possibly getting the sack..
17 Jul 2024 09:31:23
As long as the new owners are able to have a replacement lined up, I’d agree Ed25. We can’t be doing with the indecisive decisions of the past which left us scraping the barrel in the last chance saloon. Give Dyche until Christmas to show what he can do but don’t then axe him without a credible plan to replace him.
{Ed002's Note - The new owners have been taking advice over Dyche, so we will see.}
