DCL missing from training, anyone heard why.
07 Nov 2024 10:52:52
He's been missing all season ?.
07 Nov 2024 10:58:34
Probably missed the gates at Finch Farm in his car.
07 Nov 2024 11:25:30
Won’t make a difference if he misses training if he’s half ok for the weekend he’ll start just like what happened with McNeil.
Hoping we see Beto given a start as he gives his all unlike others.
07 Nov 2024 11:51:40
Agree with that GD.
07 Nov 2024 11:56:25
LOL @Reg ?.
07 Nov 2024 12:01:12
Has to be Beto, at least he cares and seems passionate which is what we need right now. Regardless it will be the same tactic, let the opposition dominate and go for a draw.
07 Nov 2024 12:31:30
Beto deserves a start.
07 Nov 2024 13:05:06
So funny Reg. With an infected tooth and choice of £1400 to save or £278 to extract there is nothing much making me smile. But that surely did ?.
07 Nov 2024 17:07:03
Giving his all is the least we should expect from every player. If we are left to rely on beto then we are in serious trouble, he's simply not good enough at this level.
07 Nov 2024 18:05:00
We'll name one player who has scored more in the last two games, also one that hit the net being marginally offside and he hit the crossbar as well. He might not be good enough but he is our best bet to score right now.
07 Nov 2024 19:14:05
Keano uk top again!
07 Nov 2024 19:22:14
He really doesn't cut the mustard as a 90-minute striker for me Mike, I see him as a last ditch late goal winner and or equaliser mate.
07 Nov 2024 19:45:24
It’s DCL that is simply not good enough, Beto deserves to start.
07 Nov 2024 20:10:27
And that reply just shows how far our standards as fans have dropped mate. He scored one goal, missed an absolute sitter from a few yards with no pressure from defenders and we're now counting offside goals as something of a positive.
When the manager decides to plough everyone forward, and with someone to play off, beto is more effective. Starting the game up top alone only serves to show his limitations. Offside too many times, runs down blind alleys to no effect, bounces off defenders despite being solid, erratic finishing, can't hold the ball up or make it stick etc etc. I'd rather give one of the young forwards a go in all honesty. From what I've seen of beto, he's just not a premier league player. I hope he scores every game but it's not going to happen in reality. He's possibly the worst forward we have bought in recent times but, yeah, he works hard.

All true bluepotato but f the clown refuses to play both at the same time we have the option of DCL or Beto. No good talking about how our standards have dropped, at the moment we don't have any options. It's just a matter of opinion, I would just like to see Beto start, that does not mean I want him starting for ever or I think that he is great striker. We need goals from somewhere and DCL is not providing them. By the way what is the name of the young striker you mention, even if he is the new Rooney SD would not play him!
08 Nov 2024 04:35:42
Also bluepotato, yes he was offside but only by a fraction of an inch and the point is that he took the chance very well so give him some credit.
08 Nov 2024 19:37:32
BM, when he has started he's been woeful in most of those games. I wasn't talking about any particular youth player but I know we have a few young forwards scoring for their age groups right now. Couldn't tell you their names but the lad we got from arsenal has bagged a few in his last couple of games. As you say, SD won't play them but I was just offering my opinion that I'd give them a go before beto.
What is it about beto that people seem to see that I don't? Genuine question that, for me he's below the likes of Niasse, Barlow, Angell, big Strach, to name just a few. The only thing they all have in common was that they worked hard.
After the last game, I did actually give him credit for the offside goal, he did take it well but it doesn't count so it doesn't matter for me. He will probably do that once in every 50 games, the other 49 he will strike them well wide or over as his finishing is erratic. That said, I'd rather talk about the sitter that would have counted as it was pivotal in that game. It's almost unforgivable as they went down the other end and won the game. He was a few yards out with practically an open goal! And it cost us the game. I'd be having a pop at any of our forwards for missing that, not just him.
For me, as I said previously, throw him on late in the game when we are getting bodies forward but he's not good enough or disciplined enough to lead the line from the start on his own, he doesn't hold it up effectively.
I honestly hope he bags a couple of goals this weekend but, even if he does, he still needs moving on asap as he's not good enough in this league.
I hope you didn't take any of my replies personally, bm, as I'm not having a go at you mate. The subject of beto gets me on my soapbox!
08 Nov 2024 20:04:47
Forget the offside one then blue spud, what about the fact that he has outscored DCL from open play since the beginning of last season? Despite having played less minutes by the equivalent of 22 full games. He isn't a world beater but he's a grafter, a nuisance and the clear irrefutable evidence is that he's a better goalscorer than Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
{Ed025's Note - im afraid im with bluepotato here Dbizzle, i dont know what the question is mate but Beto is certainly not the answer for me, i know its all down to personal opinion but i just don see what he offers the team, i find him very clumsy and as much as i want to see him succeed i just dont get what he brings to the party, maybe as part of a front 2 his robust style could take the emphasis away from DCL but i dont think we will ever know under Dyche because he will never play with a front 2 unless its the last couple of minutes and we are behind, get Broja fit i say and hope he brings more to the table than the chuckle brothers who cant hit a bulls arse with a banjo..

No Problem bp, I appreciate your comments. Whoever plays Saturday I just hope that we can come away with three points, one thing we don't want is fighting relegation again, I for one is fed up with it, year after year. I have mentioned before I was lucky enough to be at Wembley in 1966 and 1995 and to have been at Goodison several times when we won the league. I just can't stand the position that we find ourselves in at the moment. We as supporters deserve much more and I can only hope that the new owners and the new stadium bring an improved standard of football and even some silverware.
08 Nov 2024 22:08:03
DB, that's somewhat trivialising the argument mate. Michael Keane has scored more too so does that make him a better forward? It's his all round play that tells me he isn't good enough. I can only reiterate everything I've said in this post and echo everything ed025 replied to you.
BM, agree with you there mate 100%. I knew you were one of our elder statesman which is why I respect your opinions on this site, you've seen it all pal! I'm lucky to have seen us win things in the 80s, feel for the younger generations that have had to put up with mediocrity for far too long. Let's hope this takeover is the thing that gets the club back on the straight and narrow and gives us all something to cheer and unite over. UtFT.
