Dan Ashworth in the frame to become our next. DOF, if Thewell is moved on according to reports this morning.

Just think it's cheap reporting by the pressure yet again.

If true be strong possibility Southgate could be in frame as our next manager, strong rumblings that Ashworth was all for Southgate at Utd before Almorims arrival.

the noise right now is that Kevin Thelwell will be kept on.

Thelwell with the right manager/ coach will improve us.

Dyche unfortunately is unable to get the players to play any other style than his hoofball which is holding some of our players back.

Thelwell has recruited fairly well given the constraints on him and if you also look at the players he tried to sign for us but wasn’t given the backing to get those deals through (be that manager or money) he’s got an eye for talent - Kudus, Dumfries, L Diaz, Cunha to name a few who have ended up in the pre her league and doing well.

Thelwell isn’t the problem.

Time will tell.

Jury's still out on Thelwell though admittedly not the main issue.

The players you mention good were linked to us prior to Thelwell arrival and certainly on the radar, was actually Marcel Brands

Luis Diaz was lined up as Richys replacement if he went to PSG in summer of 2021.

Dumfries again he snubbed us that same summer after Brands was chasing him for more than 2 years after their time together at PSV.

Same with Kudus via the Dutch league and Brands who was aware of him in his time there.

Cunha was touted to us in January transfer window 2022, Thelwell didn't come till February.

As I say Thelwell not the key issue but certainly doesn't get credit even moreso when the calibre of the players you mention isn't his doing but actually Marcel Brands, who if left to do his job and got some backing (right man, wrong time) would have done a top job imo, don't forget it was him who got us Jarrad.

Dum.

KT though not perfect (anyone name a club without any flops? ) has been a vast improvement on the talented but controlled Brands and far superior to that wally from Leicester who certainly is complicit in our horrors. With a clean slate and new owner direction, he'd be lower down the list of immediate priorities to be resolved. Much of his better work. has been the shipping out on loans of some of the problem players. Now the new ownership seems imminent, the so called opinion piece journalist (there aren't any decent football journalists left these days) on socials are going to start ramping up the nonsense. I for one take it as a sign that we are finally moving forward and take the gutter pieces as a compliment. The more nonsense rumours the healthier the club will be.

The DoF is not all about recruitment. It's about creating an environment and culture for all levels of the football club to perform at the highest level.
You set strategy and plan for the future recruiting the right coaches and people to execute it.
If you think the DoF is out scouting an these players then you don't understand the role. There is a recruitment team who will do the scouting and analysing bringing forward recommendations.
In terms of our youth football setup, anyone who says that Thelwell has done a bad job is just not being fair to him.
Judging him on recruitment alone is not a fair measure of his success. It's a part but only that - a part.

I think he’s faired well….

Curious to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the January transfer window.

Firstly, in order, what do you see as the priority positions to sort out and with a sense of realism, who would you like to be bought in for those positions?

14 Dec 2024 08:10:02
I’m not wise enough to know which personnel/ players to get but I’d like to see:
- manager as top priority
- back room staff second
- Attacking midfielder. Someone like Cahill to support Dom or whoever up front but with the eye to setting up shooting opportunities in and around the box.
- LB and RB. Someone like Bainesy and Coleman who can defend and attack.
- RW/ RM someone who naturally plays on the right.

A new manager would be main target as they could move players around so they play in those positions and possibly not need to go spending loads in the market. I think we have a better squad than last year so am flummoxed to why we are playing so badly… then I remember who is in charge of tactics and style of play.
