Joe willock for less than what we have them for Iwobi. Make you wonder what the bloody hell Marcel was playing at.

To be perfectly honest I think Marcel gets away with a lot, he never seems to get any criticism.

{Ed025's Note - i think he is starting to now chris..

We need to remember that Moshiri has had advisors that weren’t in tune with the DoF. I wouldn’t be quick to blame Brands knowing this.

Agree TA - unless we know who was responsible for which transfer it’s going to be hard to criticise Brands.

With the so called advisors Moshiri has been listening to they could easily be responsible for all the rubbish signings or not?

We’ll never know unfortunately.

Tbf mate considering what Brand’s job is. If he didn’t go ape shiz (and I’m assuming he didn’t as he signed a new contract) . when Mosh’s advisors insisted we bought Iwobi, Klassen, Siggurdson, Delph on big wages/ fees then Brands has a big part to play in the blame.

The 500mill we've spent in the last 5 years has absolutely ruined us. Any kid who plays fifa career mode would’ve done a better job spending 500mill.

Fat Chris, I have been saying for a while now, Everton have gone backwards, since having first Walsh, and now Brands in.

Who are the rare gems that Brands has uncovered?
For the past 5/ 6 seasons we’ve bought whoever was available and paid over the odds. Keep hearing about all these scouts at the Euros, and in Tokyo. To what end? So we can sign Townsend on a free? Senseless.

brands is like walsh before him a total phoney and full of rubbish.

Brands is a strange 1 as his reputation was exemplary when he came to us. His reputation is starting to wear extremely thin. Make or break this season imo.

Agreed that brands needs to pull his finger out but part of the problem is the constant change in manager,

We will continue in this cycle while we keep changing out style of play to fit the manager all our signings are reactive without any real plan In place.

Chelsea are a prime example of a club who by players for a system and the manager has to work with what he is given. I know they are on a different level but they have an identity and they stick to it.

Makes life miles easier. Leicester are another club and now Villa are going down the same route but players to fit the club not the manager

We are in danger in my opinion of being left miles behind.

The problem we have is historically the owner decided to interfere in our transfers we are now not sure who was a Brands transfer and who was brought in by the owner. Just because Brands was at the club it doesn't mean that he actually agreed some of the transfers. What we do know i'd Brands publicly supports all then signings made by the club. What we can see now is the club have started bringing in players that look to be more aligned with what he did at PSV.

Great post Yorkie.
This continually changing players to suit the new managers style has caused no end of issues.
We need to get back to having an identity as a club and recruit the players to play the style/ system the club want.
The manager should manage these players - obviously should be able to recruit also but the player should be suited to the system so if manager leaves we’re not starting all over again.

Hoping Rafa is the start of us getting an identity back.

Got to ask yourself. If he was so good. How did we get him before a bigger club did.

Chelsea don’t really have a set identity.
