BBC reporting an hour ago that Simms has now joined Coventry for an undisclosed fee. Good luck to the lad, hope he does well with them ??.

It’s not a straight 8 million it’s dependent on goals scored and Swansea gaining promotion etc. 4 million on table or thereabouts.

Something strange about this, not sure what Everton want in a young striker! he seemed to tick all of the boxes and that’s why he was sort after, never given a proper run of games in fairness, good luck to him and fingers crossed he’s a huge success for Coventry.

If the money we get from Simms goes toward paying for Rodrigo from Leeds then for its good business. All we really have in Simms is ifs and maybes. And of course the hard to ignore fact that even with practically no good options up front for most of the season he didn’t merit a strong run. I don’t know why but he didn’t

There are though no ifs or buts with Rodrigo. He’s a premier league goal scorer. Age not on his side but still young enough for the 2 seasons we need to stay in the league until we move into BMD.

{Ed025's Note - yeah ace the manager and coaches see him every day and they obviously found simms did not improve us, i wish the guy all the best on his move, but not when they face us if he comes back to haunt us..

We have Cannon and Dobbins to come back from loan so how does it weaken the squad? One goes, two come back.
Whatever fee we received for him, it's still more than we usually do for our young players. Makes a change was the original point.

The worrying thing for me it looks like we are letting 2 academy players leave to fund the Swansea lad transfer. I might be wrong but if that's the the case we are far worse off financially than I ever expected. Expect more assets to be stripped. I'm OK with Simms he deserves the transfer a chance to make a mark.

Sobs, Simms is quick, I’ve watch him at all levels, much much quicker than any of our current strikers, plus he can finish, the lad is very fit, maybe not 100% match fits but that only comes with games, never given a run as our manager prefers Maupey.

Cool - you know better than me - on tv looks like he is slow but I do hope he proves me wrong. Some mates at Sunderland reckon they would have been promoted if he stayed. I just never thought he looked like scoring - apart from goa at Chelsea.

For someone who has scored 1 goal in the premier league, what did you expect as a fee, BB? I suppose there will be other factors that drive the price, if he didn't have too long left etc.
The bonus is that, if he's as good as some of our fans believe, we will have a chance of getting most of the 8m. If SD isn't going to play him then it makes sense to cash in while teams are interested in him, rather than loan him out until his contact runs out.
