Inhale. I hate to say it but I'm very positive. I use the word hate because I like most people on here have been positive before. But, A few weeks away from the start of the season and we have kept our top players and added to the squad. Every signing we have made is strong. Kone, although not the world beater we crave is capable of scoring goals, and his competition will hopefully help Jela and Anichebe. In Deulofeu we have a top youngster from the worlds best academy and in Barkley lies yet another gem from the 2nd best academy. Both should play a big part and both are capable of winning a game on their own. Then in Kevin Mirallas we have in my opinion one of the most exciting players in the league. In Alcaraz we've signed a defender who can naturally slot in to make a back 3 and doesn't aim to lump it at every chance. Our two full backs are the most attacking in the premier league and in Fellaini and Gibson we have presence in the middle. Our defence last season was one of the strongest in the league and it remains in tact. I don't know what our best team is right now, but add Pienaar, Osman, Oviedo, Naismith and what we get is the best squad we have had for years. It looks like we might still have a bit of money to spend and there's players like Heitinga and Magaye who could make way to add a bit more. Our league rivals are all travelling ridiculous distances to play pointless friendlies and picking up injuries whilst we have spent the first 3 weeks on European soil, training hard on good surfaces with no jet lag. We head off on our Pre season tour fit and ready rather than fatigued and still in holiday mode. A word for our new manager. Conducted himself in a top class manner and I am so willing him to do well, because I would love this guy to become an Everton legend. The doom mongerers will point to the potential sales of Baines and Fellaini, they may still be right. But I hope we would never sell without buying replacements, and they would bring another aspect to look forward to this season. I look at the teams in this league and none of them scare me, we can show them all up on our day. Its the Crystal Palaces and Cardiffs of this world that will be the true test. I really believe we can achieve something under Roberto. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum. Exhale. Hank {Ed025's Note - great post hank..

Great post Hank, it is nice to see others who have a bit of confidence in our abilities too.

As for Robbie, I am the first to put my hand up and say he was not my first choice, not against him or anything just not first choice. However, in his short reign he has said and done all the right things, appears to have the lads actually enjoying playing and has brought back that style of play that has been lacking at Goodison for far too many years. I too hope we go on to talk about him in years to come as one of if not our best manager of all time.

All this pro Martinez attitude is making me feel sick, look at his record 17-17-18. Great league positions he got at Wigan. Stop all fooling yourselves and support Everton allways, it is US the supporters that will give Everton an ok season, not Martinez. {Ed025's Note - what a load of cods wallop..
