Hate to say it and pick on one player and it's not just the this game but I just don't rate gomes and never have he is to slow and I'm not sure he has a future with us.

{Ed025's Note - he was poor skylark and especially in the first half, i think injuries have took their toll and hes lost his pace mate..

He’s been fine this season apart from today.

I agree to the extent he doesn’t do as much as Allan and Doucoure, but he’s not supposed to, Allan gets the ball, Doucoure carries the ball, Gomes does a bit of both and rarely loses it

What annoys me is he SHOULD be doing more than he is, he’s deceptively quick, insanely strong and a good dribbler yet doesn’t do that often enough, he should be gliding past people for fun

But he’s clearly not got a lot of confidence in general and since the permanent move he’s not been as good as he was when he was on loan

Someone very creative would be needed there instead of Gomes, people have said play James there but that opens up all kinds of problems, wouldn’t it be great if we had someone like Thiago.

I thought Gomes passing today was very poor, if he had made better passes today I thought we could have won several times he attempted to put Ricky + Dom through but either overshot or hit the defender. Personally I felt this season he was getting back to form until today. I'm putting it down to just coming back to injury.

We are still a work in progress, we have not got the pace throughout the midfield unlike the reds. Just keep the faith we are getting there with Carlo.

Gomes has been the worst outfield player on the pitch all season and Siggy should be playing instead of him. Sig has been excellent all season and much more direct and economical with the ball. whereas Gomes has been slow to react to situations, losing the ball constantly in dangerous areas and offering nothing going forward.

I like the lad but he is a weak link in that midfield and he either improves or he should give way to Sig.

{Ed025's Note - i agree on gomes john but is siggy really the answer?, very good on the ball but his work ethic not so good, i never thought i would utter these words but i would put delph in myself mate..

I think delph and Allan is too defensive but he has also been good and wouldn't argue.

I think Sig this season has been much better and hasn't put a bad performance in. Even yesterday when he came on, he looked so much more assured, more direct going forward. He couldn't be any worse than Gomes is at the moment.

I said this a couple of weeks ago but we need to judge these players again now we have real quality in the team and a different motivation.
