Great result after a poor first half showing. 6 months ago we lose that game.

However, anyone else think we are too nice? Burnley bullied us and we had no one to go put a strong tackle in on any of their players to let them know we was up for the fight. After that tarkowski challenge I wanted someone to go put it on him next possible chance. I have no complaints with the game getting more physical, so we need an enforcer to raise to these occasions.

Taking nothing away from the win, I’d just like to see a bit more in someone to protect the likes of richy.

Everton the gear.

Jimbo if one of our players had done as you say they’d have been sent off.
Refereeing last night was atrocious.
Burnley got away with some nasty tackles yet Townsend got a yellow for a slight tug on a shirt that was no way a booking.

Agree with what you're saying to an extent Jimbob but as Dan says we'd have been down to 10 last night. It was laughable that neither the tackle on richy, or the one where they came through the back of townsend were even given as free kicks. It seems that the referees have now reached such levels of ineptitude that a dangerous red card tackle is decided on by whether the player is injured. Best wishes to Harvey elliot. But compare that unfortunate tangle of legs to the tackle on richy, how the former is a red and the latter not even a free kick is beyond me!

{Ed025's Note - atkinson was awful davey, i dont mind that refs are not giving petty fouls but some of them from burnley were atrocious mate, imagine if in our present predicament we had lost ritchie and andros our season could now be over, im all for physicality but they were damn dangerous..

i have to admit on townsend and gray when they first signed i wasnt sure but wow last night they proved me wrong some goal that from andros just same as everyone else 1st half we looked lost s few pointed formation got changed second half 3 goals in seven minutes just what i have missed all good for the fans being there wish i wasand ed 025 there was a tackle from behind on ricky 1st half two legs aswell am suprised even var didn't look at it unless they did i apoligise if missed it mate.

{Ed025's Note - VAR will only be used for incidents that involve goals or penalties andy, Burnley were very physical and over the top at times but thats not the fault of them mate, its the fault of martin Atkinson who has the power to book or send off players who break the rules...but he never because he is hopeless..

Was VAR not involved in the Elliot incident and subsequent sending off? Or did the ref get verbal advice from the stands without VAR?

{Ed025's Note - i dont think it was used on that incident PHH mate..

I read this Ed
Referee Craig Pawson didn't even blow for a foul. As far as he was concerned, Struijk won the ball fairly. But VAR Darren England assessed the incident and because the injury was so bad, the officials reacted with a red for Struijk.
In which case it’s crazy that VAR didn’t look at either of the two fouls on Richy again! One might think the powers that be might favour our red neighbours!

{Ed025's Note - i didn.t know that PHH, if thats true then the challenge on ritchie should have been scrutinised as well...thats a disgrace mate..

Why football isn't using the examples of other sports video assistance to get VAR right, how many mistakes in rugby both codes, cricket the mistake I've ever seen was because of language barrier (reserve officials during C.V.) rather than actual mistake.

VAR needs to be spotting obvious fouls missed in play like rugby if significant enough brought to the attention of referee like assistant waving their flag, rugby VAR has power to intercede in match if missed by officials.

Football in their arrogance, just thinks they know it all instead of using experience of other sports who have been doing it longer and better.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot cpompare fiootball and rugby due to the stop-start nature of rugby. It is easy to take play back after the next break of play in rugby - that would not work in football.}
