Listened to El Bobbles podcast last night regards the Gueye deal Everton are getting frustrated as they have everything in place for Gueye to have the second part of his medical and sign his contract the hold up is he wants severance pay from PSG as he's taking a wage cut and they can't agree on a number. I want Gueye I think he is exactly what I need but why are players so greedy and if I was Everton I would give him a deadline of early afternoon today so we can get the medical sorted and he can be registered in time for Sat.

Lamps why is he greedy wanting what he is owed we don't know the amount and its not like PSG will be rummaging down the back of their sofa looking for pennies to pay him. Have a bit of patience its not like we can get anyone else in before Saturday so waiting an extra day or two or even a week isn't a problem as its not effecting signings. If Everton gave him a deadline and he missed it would you want them to cancel the deal?

if you think earning approx 80k a week and wanting a pay off from your previous club isn't greedy then i am baffled.

He’s entitled to negotiate the remainder of his contract. Greed doesn’t come into it.

I can see this two ways:

If he wants to leave then why should he get a pay off as he’s moving to a different employer. None of us would expect a pay off if we chose to move jobs.

If he’s being made to leave then he should get a severance package as employer is choosing to move him on.

Because Everton cannot pay the same wages he is on at PSG.

If you signed a pre determined contract and then found your job was becoming redundant and could move jobs, you'd not claim for your contract to be paid up? Oh OK, you must live in cloud cookoo land. I throw that attitude in the same clichéd nonsense bin as badge kissing and 1 club loyalty. Absolute garbage expectation in 2022 actually anytime since about 1955.

I don't blame him getting what he is due. We would all do the same in his position. He will have commitments that he pays for and staff and this will be based on his earnings. Players are like businesses.

The good news though is that it seems we are being better at managing our wages structure better.

Is his job becoming redundant Brownshoes? If he didn’t move to us, he would be doing what a large amount of our squad have been doing of late: staying, not playing but the club keep paying…

If he has chosen to move to get more game time then it is his decision and surely it would be down to Everton to pay off the remainder of his contract or pay him the same.

It feels like a strange situation.
