This window has been more productive than I was expecting, especially given the slow start to recruiting once the window had opened. We've seen a few players leave after their (extremely generous) contracts had expired. Still a few that I feel we could get a couple of quid for if clubs become interested.
Every player that has signed, so far, have improved and strengthened the areas that we really need and, as a consequence, the spine of the team looks good. Especially in comparison to the last few seasons. Another midfielder and a CF are areas we need to bolster further but there is still time.
On the subject of midfield, I was happy to see that IGG looked to be on his way back but I'm not so sure that deal will now go through. With him turning 33 this week, is it something we really want to be doing? There must be other options out there, Camara for example, that will give us better value for money.
All in all, and with a bit of time left, I'd say this has been a pretty successful window and credit must go to the entire recruitment team, whomever they are!

Not sure what the issue is with age, Chelsea have Silva who is 37, United have Ronaldo who is around the same age, age is just a number if the player is good enough then that’s ok with me, us fans have got to choose between having a young team or an experienced team if you want to win thing then it’s the experienced team to go for and introducing younger players as we go along.

We just got rid of Delph. Have Allan - fo we need snother 30+ player - especially our problems with FFP - surely we nerd players with some sell on value

Flip side of thst i suppose - lewis gibdon and Sambue cost 11m - played no games and left for nothing.

Bit of a stretch to compare Ronaldo to IGG don't you think? I wouldn't say the latter, as much as I like him, is in the same bracket of elite players.
I should have made it clear in the OP that I have no problem with buying older players. Players stay fitter than ever before these days and can play for longer in comparison to years gone by. We can spend around 10m on a player but there will be no real value when it comes to selling. As a club, I think we should be targeting younger players with resale value rather than letting older players run down contracts and leave for free. We've been down that road for the last 6 years and it hasn't been entirely successful has it?
He will get my backing if he signs but I wouldn't lose any sleep if we turned our attention elsewhere.
