Hi Ed, do you know if there is any interest in Ben Bereton Diaz? I know his contract is up so will be available on a free. Had a decent season with Blackburn so I would welcome him to us.

ArchetypeBlue

{Ed002's Note - He has already agreed a move elsewhere.}

Apparently Rnagers have joined the list of admirers for Coventry striker Gyokeres, which now includes Burnley, Brentford, Wolves and Everton, and while the player only has 1 year left on his contract, Coventry will look to get close to £30m for him.

ArchetypeBlue

1.) 05 Jun 2023 10:21:03
Can't see them getting anywhere near that. With one year left the player and his agent now have control. Like most transfers were contracts have nearly ended, the player will choose which club he wants to go to. Normally the one offering the most money, and the club will just have to get the best deal they can.

2.) 05 Jun 2023 12:54:26
There is no way they will get that, rangers can't offer that sort of money and I'm sure the rest wont, he's untested in the prem, has 1 year on his contract, 10/ 15mill at most.

{Ed002's Note - Viktor Gyokeres (S) Everton looked to him in the summer and they could look again as he is having a great season. Wolves interest will probably have gone with Cuhna signing but maybe they will return. Bournemouth offer an option. Leeds will look to him as a Bamford replacement and have approached Coventry with the signing of Rutter not impacting their interest. Sporting Lisbon have spoken with his agent and offer an interesting option for the player. Coventry have resisted a sale up to now but you can expect him to make the move in the summer.}

3.) 09 Jun 2023 12:58:48
They should break the bank to sign the young Swede just the type of striker we need.

28 Jul 2022 04:32:34
I know how daft and farfetched it sounds but I'd love it to happen. Lucas Paqueta from Lyon? Are we truly interested?

ArchetypeBlue

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see him making such a move at all.}

We are in a lot of rubbish with FFP as everyone is aware, we have 5 players whos contracts expire come 30th June (Lonergan, Kenny, Delph, Sigurdsson and Tosun) which will save us some money on wages. If we can sell a few more players (Mina, Keane, Allan, Davies, Townsend, Rondon, Doucoure) and save more money on more big wages then look into a few free transfers (Tarkowski, Longstaff, Nketiah, Jason Denayer, Christian Eriksen) then get a couple of loan signings in. I think that would keep us going strong and help towards being able to spend on bigger talents next season.

ArchetypeBlue

1.) 24 May 2022 23:08:13
Why would we get rid of Doucoure and Townsend.

2.) 24 May 2022 23:57:36
Longstaff? Not good enough. Not overly sold on any of them mentioned. Maybe eriksen, but that's it. Tarkowski nay be decent. Abit like what jags was for us.

3.) 25 May 2022 08:13:01
That's your opinion Arch and your entitled to it but mine is if we did what you say then relegation would be a certainty next season bud.

4.) 25 May 2022 11:27:05
Townsend is rubbish too old and he isn’t good. Championship player that’s why we sell him. Dacoure too slow too awkward and his passing is atrocious. That’s why we need to sell them.

5.) 26 May 2022 09:06:26
Not much of a sales pitch that Con.
Not sure who would buy them based on those descriptions.
Townsend a consummate professional and when fit brings a much needed sense of calm to team and the ability to create something from nothing, however due to his age don’t think he’s going to fit in with plans going forward.

Doucore was immense for Watford and wasn’t bad previously for us, however this season he’s been more bad than good. Whether that’s due to the differing roles he’s been given or the different midfield pairings who knows. If we could get him back to previous form he’d be good for us again.

07 May 2022 10:37:00
Hey Ed, any more info on us being linked with Ryan Kent from Rangers and Josh Brownhill from Burnley?

ArchetypeBlue

{Ed002's Note - Josh Brownhill (CM/DM) West Ham had an interest when he was at Bristol City. Leeds have him on a list of options if they lose Phillips. Watched by Everton and Aston Ailla but perhaps not first choice for either.
Ryan Kent (W) Leeds have a sustained interest and will certainly follow up with another offer in the summer. Fulham may offer an option. Rangers will try and get a new contract agreed.}

As an Evertonian living in Coventry, I was so happy today to see Ellis Simms scoring 2 goals to take Cov to their first FA cup semi final since they last won the competition in 1987. I hope they go all the way and win it now.

ArchetypeBlue

1.) 17 Mar 2024 14:57:59
I have no idea why he was sold for less than what we paid for chermiti. Totally backwards.

2.) 17 Mar 2024 15:43:02
I have no idea why he was sold and replaced with Beto. Other than he doesn’t run round like a headless chicken. Scored goals though, always has.

3.) 17 Mar 2024 18:00:17
He stays in box like striker does. Hence he scores.

10 point reduction reduced to 6 points moving us up to 15th position on 25 points.

With all the recent talk about "consistency" in football (especially within the Premier League) right now. If the Premier League want to deduct us 12 points for one breach of FFP, when Man City have their outcome they should be deducted 1380 points for their 115 breaches, this would ultimately kick them out of the football league.

???.

2.) 26 Oct 2023 11:09:36
It is just some anti EFC "journalist", guessing and making mischief, as per usual.
Lets all calm down and wait for the hearing.

{Ed002's Note - You really don't understand do you. Really embarrassing.}

3.) 27 Oct 2023 09:51:05
Ed002 - speculation about what the punishment will be aside, do you know roughly when there might be an outcome one way or the other?

{Ed002's Note - There is no timescale but I would expect the commission to report back reasonably soon as I understand we are now past the stage of presenting evidence. It will then be a case of Everton and their lawyers to decide whether to appeal - then it could drag on a long time - or to suck it up and accept whatever punishment is assigned.}

4.) 27 Oct 2023 11:41:50
ED002 just to clarify are you presuming we will found guilty? or just didn't put in if found guilty in your post?

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained in the past, it is not a question of guilt. Everton have been looking at damage limitation.}

5.) 27 Oct 2023 14:11:58
----------Read the post cretin-----------

6.) 27 Oct 2023 22:58:47
Premier League have been giving their evidence to the panel, its Everton's next week, as reported in several media outlets.

Apparently panel where not impressed by the the presentation by the EPL. Hopefully we can make a better fist of it. I'm hoping the club have got Perry Mason, but more likely got Saul.

7.) 27 Oct 2023 22:59:42
Meant to put Saul Goodman.

19 Sep 2023 20:03:39
With all the negativity surrounding the club right now, we need to be there to support the club and get behind the manager and players, we need to be more than the 12th man on match day, we need to be the ones who the players can look to before and after games and think "I will give more than my all for these fans and this club". We need to support in any way possible. Regardless of your opinions on whether Dyche should be manager, Regardless of if you think this player or that players should be in the team, Regardless of the owner and his potential sale of the club, let's get behind them and push us like we've never done before. COYB NSNO!

1.) 19 Sep 2023 21:41:35
Total load of crap we have been doing that for the past 5 years and not one of this overpaid twats have given a crap about us or the club.

2.) 19 Sep 2023 21:36:23
Good words mate, but frankly this club has burnt me out and I’m getting to the point we’re I really don’t care anymore. And Sundays performance was just about it for me, and I think 30 odd thousand other supporters mate. Sorry.

{Ed025's Note - for the supporters to give their all they must get something in return, mainly heart, commitment and a willingness to wear the shirt with pride, for most of this season that has not been the case, there may be a number of reasons for this, poor management, lack of motivation or maybe just laziness, we cant expect the crowd to cheer misplaces passes or giving the ball away, we are not creating chances or defending well so i dont know what the fans are supposed to do to be honest..

3.) 19 Sep 2023 22:16:28
Sunday's showing or lack of totally threw Dyches go to saying "minimum requirement, maximum effort" saying out of the window Ed.

Rather lost by 5 then not lay a glove on them

1 corner in game in like 70minute, at home and our strength is strength is set plays. Totally on Dyche Sunday's performance for me, made worse by his post match interview.

4.) 19 Sep 2023 22:48:24
The set plays in particular were staggeringly poor. Must have just about the tallest squad in the league and didn’t get a ball near a man. Add to that the fact that we can’t play a simple pass 5 yards and you’re in bother.

Lack of bottle, lack of confidence, lack of talent, call it what you want. It was clear that the players had been told to try and soak up pressure and hold them off on the hope of nicking a 1-0 win. Not acceptable for our club. Worse squads have won games with heart and hard work. Dyche needs to get tune on Saturday, or get the bus out of town.

5.) 20 Sep 2023 09:31:36
It's bad, really bad, I agree with all the points above, it's bad right through the spine of the club, I don't think sacking the manager is an option for me though, we keep changing managers they bring in their players, get sacked, then a new manager brings in his players etc so we have no fluency or consistency. We're like lego blocks mixed with bristle blocks, they don't fit or connect. Don't know what the answer is, but for me, sacking Dyche isn't one of them. We probably couldn't afford to. It's going to be a lonnnnnng season!

18 Sep 2023 19:27:29
If we was to sack SD, who would you all be willing to get in. Potter, Nagelsmann, Galtier or Conte would be top of my list and are all currently available but we'd probably end up with the likes of Allardyce, Hassenhuttl or Jesse Marsch.

ArchetypeBlue

1.) 18 Sep 2023 20:49:30
None of those would touch us. We crapped on Alardyce, Hassenhuttl, Marsch are not improvements. Dyche is going nowhere. Already those above bottom 3 are pulling away, the Everton against Fulham and Wolves may have a chance but the one against Arsenal were and are chicken rubbishs. Luton at home we may win. 7 games 4 points ye Gods. Anyway we are legging it for a couple of weeks (Booked yesterday about 1900) , Grandson and his mate have stronger hearts than me, they can take my stress for a bit.

2.) 18 Sep 2023 20:54:52
Lopetegui is still free, and arguably the best we could hope for right now, but doubt he'd come to us as we are looking more and more like a lost cause. He left Wolves over a lack of transparency and commitment from the board, so heaven knows what he'd make of Moshiri, Kenwright or Tony Soprano Scarface Corleone or whatever his name is from 777.

3.) 18 Sep 2023 21:52:32
I know that is has been a mistake sacking so many managers, but you can’t help but feel that every time a new appointment has been made. It has been the wrong one. Sean – was never the right manager for Everton football club in my opinion. Just simply is not good enough to be at the helm in this day and age. he seems to me to be a one trick pony who relies on certain physical attributes of his side to carry out his tactics that seems slightly prehistoric to me. I honestly do not know who we would replace him with. Should he be sacked but I honestly only see him having three games to save his job. If we lose the next three he’s gone in my opinion.

4.) 19 Sep 2023 10:06:46
And that’s the problem. We keep getting managers in to keep us up. They achieve this but then you realise that they’re not actually that good. So we get another one in and on and on it goes.

If these so called 'big six' were to joina super league and be then generating more income to make them financially better off, would that then be giving them a 'sporting advantage' against all 14 other teams in the PL?

Love it Ed haha. I'm sure you meant Ekitike, Shammy. Unfortunately I've also heard SD has come out and said no talks or deal was ever in place for the player. Whether he is just keeping the cards close to his chest to get a deal done with no other interference or he is actually telling the truth is another story.

ArchetypeBlue

{Ed002's Note - Hugo Ekitike (F) Versatile forward that Eintracht Frankfurt have identified as a replacement for Randal Kolo Muani. Atalanta want him if they lose Hojlund offering PSG the opportunity to include him as part of the offer for Hojlund. Lens offer an interesting option. Everton want a loan but have yet to speak with PSG, only his "representative" and I use the word in the loosest of meanings."

How I think VAR should be used is.

1. Fouls should be played in full speed and not slowed down as this makes the challenge look a lot worse than it is.

2. Handball should only be given if it is a deliberate attempt (at close range) to impede the game or if the arm is up/ out far enough to make a block.

3. Offside should be given as advantage to the striker like it used to be and not given when a toe or nose is past the last defender.
